When installing the tsw v2 damper...
i'm gonna try to install my v2 later this week. any bits of advice for overcoming any little obstacles during install?
seems like i recall a thread (but i didn't find it or was half awake when i read what i found) something about a string or something tied to one of the bolts so as not to lose it.
anyway, any help or advice will be greatly appreciated to make this as smooth and easy as possible. thanks

the string technique was for the LOTF damper, different location.
I have a TSW earlier versiondamper. their instructions are easy to follow with pics. should be enclosed in the package, if not I know it's on their site too.

cast aluminum engine supporting bracket (step 1) being way down there crammed in a little spot might be an easy thing to drop into the inner depths of the engine bay. i would using a pipe cleaner or wound up piece of paper if the bolt was hollow to help prevent dropping/losing it.
anyone had difficulty with that?
and, i don't have a torque wrench - will that be a prob?
Everybody should have a torque wrench if they plan to work on there own car. It's one of those tools that when you need it nothing else does the job. And if you arent doing super precise work a fairly inexpensive Craftsman or Husky wrench will do the job.
so, looks like i'll either be buying or borrowing one before i complete this mod
Agreed on the torque wrench but you can go even cheeper at Harbor Freight. I have both the 1/2" and 1/4" and they both work well. They probably will not last like Craftsman or Husky but I only paid about $10 for each.
I would not trust the accuracy of a Harbor Freight torque wrench. Don't get me wrong, I like HF and have purchased many things from them, but proper torque settings are too important for HF, stick with the Craftsman or Husky as mentioned.
Also, on the TSW V2 engine damper, I just installed one myself. It works well, and the preload adjustment does actually increase the firmness. However, expect some additional whine/noise if you firm it up too much. Not a good whine like from the SC, more of a noise. I did not experience additional vibration.
As far as fitment, I had to grind off some of the engine side bracket as well as the new supplied fuels breather valve bracket. Both of these brackets simply did not fit, I had to adjust them significantly such that they would clear the SC horn. I then touched it up to make sure it would not rust. This was disappointing.
Hopefully, you will have better luck and can install with no modifications.

Color pictures helped me when figuring out which side/end each conical, washer, nut went. black and white in the directions left a lot do be desired. I had the V1, I hated it, then went with V2 and it was much better....until the bracket bent on it. I have now moved on to the VIP damper. We'll see how long it lasts.

Im sure i'll have better luck with their springs when I get around to buying them.
I just installed a TSW V2 damper a couple weeks back. Install took me about 15 minutes. It was extremely easy. As for the bolt down on the frame rail - I didn't have any problems, but if you're worried, just get a small telescoping magnet and have it against the bolt while you're removing it. Everyone should have one of those telescoping magnets. It's one of the most valuable tools in my arsenal! Good luck!
Thanks and I will be on the lookout. It was definitely an unexpected complication for an otherwise, simple installation. The easy solution was a little grinding and a little touch-up paint.
Once installed though, it works properly and looks good.

thanks for all the posts - i'm dying to put the thing in - just need to have access to a torque wrench and i'm all set. the local tuner shop down the street offered to loan me one after hours so as soon as i can work it into my schedule....and i'm hoping it only takes 15-30 minutes for the install. anything longer and i'm either dropping on the iq scale or i figure the install has gone terribly wrong.

take your time,
the clock isn't ticking........
look at the pics on this site and in the instructions and "picture" the damper installed. ( actually hold it in place)
it takes as long as it takes,
you'll be fine
