http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185054
would work just awesome
i use that fan on the back of my case ( i built my comp)
and even though its loud, most normal high-speed high performance fans only pust ~80cfm of air a min, but that one does over 130 cfm
if something smaller is needed, newegg probably has it, and you can search for almost anything by any parameters if you hit the power search button in the left hand colum once you go to the case fans section (top bar, computer hardware -> fans and heatsinks -> case fans -> power search.
also, im snot sure anyone here could get their hands on it, but id be interested to seee what a fine mist in a very short burst of liquid nitrogen to an intercooler would do. will cool a computer chip that air cooled with the best air cooling and heatsingks on the market would run well over 160 degrees f to -180 degrees..., but thats a continuous bathing.
has anyone hear heard of liquid nitrogen beiung used before?
I have to admit, I'm not an expert in computer fans. But flow and pressure differential are two different things. Moving air through a case or over a heat sink is not the same as pushing it through a core. If I had to bet, all the computer fans you could cram on the IC with the hood closed wouldn't be as effective as a simple misting with water, but please do the test and report back. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Like big howe, I have a temp probe in my Dinan box...it pretty much reads ambient when moving.

rclements... my engine bay doesn't "bake" anymore because...
1)I have hood vents
2)Only the rear section of the hood insulation remains(the part over the two rear compartments)
3)The IMD lets in the air coming through the grille.

If you want to get rid of the heat in the engine bay, you need to make modifications to the factory setup. They sealed it up pretty well.

Thanks. I must have missed it but presume that "IMD" is some type of deflector?

Any detrimental effects to de-insulating the hood? Paint crackle, scoop droop, etc?

Here is my interpretation of the IMD.

What about putting one of these on your intercooler?

It's a thermoelectric cooler. It might work for DFIC owners cause it has a place for it. Anyone tried it?

I don't think those draw many watts hence not much cooling. I haven't done the exact calc's, but if you look at the BTU's going through the IC you'd need roughly 1.2 jigawatts of electricity from a flux capacitor to make it worthwhile.

There is a source of fresh incoming air that is blocked by the design of the front end . Partsman has tapped this location with his modification. We accomplished the same thing with what we call the " baby scoop "

Here's the IMD thread...
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-cooling.html

...and as you can see from the pics posted by Longboard and maxmini, there are different ways to go about it.
But, nothing beats the original ...

I haven't had any issues with the paint or the scoop, and i've been running mine like that for over a year now.

In one of our earlier threads I raised the issue of these TEC coolers (again used in computer applications) and Dr Obnxs did the math to prove you'd need one the size of a billiard table to make any difference.
Moving on...
