Have experienced undesireable brake fade on the Autobahn at times and want to correct this problem using the least amount of $$$..I know that a BIG brake kit would solve the problem but, my wallet is not thick enough!! I have a general knowledge of brakes and plan to upgrade useing the EBC green pads and EBC front only rotors to include ss lines. my question..will the braking geomentry (front/rear) be adversely affected if I don't use the EBC rotors on the rear. Thanks for your comments

Have a GREAT day!!

I think that changing all four rotors would be the best low cost option to solve your problem. this along with the steel brake lines and some quality brake fluid will stop the boiling of the brake fluid that causes the brake fade

Adding some brake ducts would be another low cost option for keeping the brakes cool during those high speed runs. Any race shop in your area should have some low profile designs that can mount directly to the bottom of the car and a little tubing can direct the airflow right at the calipers for maximum cooling.

I would ask under what conditions of driving have you gotten the brake fade? Steep downhill areas with lots of turns? Over what period of time- how many miles? A BIG brake kit is $1800 to $2400 plus installation and then a rear brake upgrade is still needed.

Reduced brake fade can be had by upgrading the brake system in general-Consider
Brake pads-Mintex Red (for street use)-or Mintex M1144 pads, Ferodo DS2500 $139 front, $142 rear.
EBC red pads.
Rotor upgrade-powerslot rotors are the way to go. $249 front and $215 rear- worth the added cost.

upgraded brake fluid- ATE super blue, Castrol SRF,Motul brake fluid- higher boiling temp- Don't let your brake fluid boil! BAD
Stainless steel brake lines- helps to improve pedal feel- not fading. Goodridge for $119 a set of 4. http://www.helix13.com/html/products/brakes.htm
Check out the helix stage 1 brake kit!

If you just want to eliminate the fade, you can try and just replace the brake fluid with something like superblue. (or another high boiling point brake fluid) I would also recommend changing the fluids if you are changing your pads as well. That said....

What I am planning on doing is putting slotted rotors on the front rotors only and then probably EBC Greenstuff pads all around. As long as you have the better pads on all four corners, I don't think it is a problem. It's also not clear if you are just going to put SS lines on the front or all around, my recommendation would be to put them all around and not just the front.

Helix has a kit that sounds similar to what you are planning to install. I don't know how much shipping to Germany would be but it's $375 and comes with the front slotted rotors, EBC Greenstuff pads, and SS lines. The only other thing you would need to get would be new brake fluid. Check them out at www.helix13.com.

I plan on doing the same thing once I get the money and it shouldn't cause brake geomenty problems. The setup that concerns me would be a brembo big brake kit in the front and nothing in the rear. (They don't make anything for the rear)

I have had the Helix Stage 1 Brake upgrade for a few months now. Very happy with it, noticeable difference in pedal feel and stopping power. Had a friend drive the car and he immediately said something about the brakes. Nice bang for the buck.

Want to thank all who responded... have a better feel now of what will be the best solution and bang for the "buck". Will save my $$ and probably purchase the kit from Helix but first I think changing the fluid will be in order.

Again thanks for the suggestions

Have a GREAT day!!
