Drivetrain A new beginning
A new beginning
So this morning when I started my Mini it was making a whine grind clink and clunk sound. Pretty sure it is the supercharger. So I have decided that its time, with 100600 miles on the odometer its time to do a well deserved and needed tune up of all that needs to be done. I have a new supercharger that I would like to do some port and polish work too before it goes on. There are also a few leaks that will be addressed as well. I think that it will be nice to take the Mini off the road for a while and get it back into tip top shape.
Here is a list of things that I am planning on doing, please feel free to add any ideas.
-replace the SC
-Port and polish the supercharger and SC horns
-Fresh Sc belt
-replace the oil pan gasket
- check the cylinder head gasket, make sure everything is sealed up there
- check over the entire coolant system, I know that my stage one fan needs to be replaced so that will get done.
-power steering fan and pump were just replaced so those should be good
Maybe's
-remove the ac, never use it anyway's
-new clutch
-lsd
Now I just have to find a beater that will make it through the winter. Jeffc is nice enough to let me use his garage for this project so I have that covered. ******* Please if you have any ideas, suggestions or experiences let me know

if you are doing it and it doesn't cost anything in labor go ahead. If you have to pay someone to do it........spend your money elsewhere it's close to a moot point

if you open your tranny to do a clutch, do the LSD, it is WAY worth it. Another thing I would consider is new bushings. Either OEM or Poly, but at 100k your stock stuff is definitely tired and new bushings will bring life back into the car in the way it feels to drive.
I've been looking for a beater car to take back and forth to work and I am amazed at how much honda civic's and toyota corollas and the such are going for these days. I'm looking at 98 99's going for 3500-4200!!! I was hoping to pick something decent up for around 2000 but anthing in that range is 15 years old and over 150k. Not too sure if that's reliable enough to go 50 miles each way 5 days a week...good luck with your build though sounds like a fun little project and nice that you have a garage to work. i'm in desperate need to flush my brake fluid and change my oil in my pickup but these damn NY temps just make it impossible to get anything done!

Decide first what your goals are for your car before you go spending $$.
Good luck.
ENDYN has over a decade of experience (for the public) reworking Eaton SCs, you should check them out. They can also rework the horns and the intake manifold, http://theoldone.com/components/cyli...ead_modifi.htm

if you want an entertaining thread.... go read the one about 28psi on 91 pump gas on 11:1 compression
Jan, provide a link to the suspect Endyn article please. I've skimmed the articles and achives, plus Google search using the terms listed; I'm not being facetious (at least not yet), sarcastic, or lazy.
It sounds like the numbers came from one of the articles on Larry's Civic.
I just sent Jan an email about some options for our 03 MCS w/ 88,000+ miles.
Had the same sounds that MiniStupidFun had with his. I don't want to get rid of her or get a new 07+ one either. Maybe that new stroker will cure this...
