Well among other issues you may encounter, you might get much exhaust into the cab of the car killing more brain cells. My ALTA exhaust leaked at the VBANDS an I ALWAYS WAS TIRED FROM DRIVING..(fumes). I replaced the vbands and no more leaks.
Also, that god awful noise would NOT be flattering in your MINI,

I've done it for a couple weeks...its not bad at all...no drone at all or anything and it was not what I would consider loud. I actually had a 3 foot resonator section from my Invidia attached to it, so maybe that had something to do with it. Try it and see if you like it, the stock exhaust comes off easy and is easy to put back on if you don't like it.

I wouldnt recommend it permanently without some sort of pipe extending down the back. The exhaust is very hot and i would imagine over time this would not be good for your underbody.

When replacing my exhaust we chopped it off at the DP and ran the car for a few minutes with no exhaust, just the stock (catted) downpipe. It wasnt loud at all. It popped and banged like mad, but in no way was the exhaust note loud or droney, it was just a deep buzzy kinda noise

How loud is not loud? There's a kid next door with an exhaustless Corolla and he says it is not loud enough, even though it sets off car alarms and sounds like a gaseous canine with a megaphone.

It's really not loud....try it for yourself. The turbo REALLY muffles the exhaust down.

I've said this many times, but for comparison, my R53 Cooper S was way louder with an OBX header, highflow cat, and Invidia, than when I ran an open downpipe on my R56.

as just stated above, the turbo acts as a muffler, than the cat also muffles plus whatever else, the turbo neons didnt have a factory muffler installed, nice sound passing by, the downpipe is most important for quick spools, 3 inches with a metallic cat works best, or no cat if legality isnt an issue, one straight thru borla muffler would be all thats needed

if you had extra money and didnt get the rear foglight toggle, perhaps you can use this...

http://shop.quicktimeperformance.com/cart.php

if you can setup it up right (retrofit it with the mini toggles) ill give you a cookie! i am soo curious.

basically, its just a ypipe and a toggle. you flick the switch and a valve opens up to let air just straight out (open downpipe). flick it back and it goes back to your exhaust. this way you can choose! someone try it!

OMG, I was just talking to my friend about this last night. He wants this for his Cobalt SS/TC. This is really cool. I am really hoping someone will try this. I didn't even think about the toggle panel, that would be AWSUM!!!!11!!1211!@@!!11oneoneone!!3

What may be a problem is the fact that our stock exhausts are some bs diameter like 2.36", and their kit is for 2.5". But I have heard that the downpipe is 2.5", and it gets smaller. Don't know, but I am really interested in this electric cutout.

Try it on a 1st gen and it will sound like a tractor engine. The turbo, however, should do a decent job of muffling, but I can't help but believe that it will sound like an angry hornet if you get on it hard.

the biggest question is where would you put something like that? the cut out sticks out a lil bit but the car sits so low that i dont think you can just have it stick downward... i wonder if there would be enough room to have it stick sideways?

also...there the dp -> flexable coupler -> cat -> and resonator...

is one to replace the cat? resonator? i get enough droning with my current setup (2.5 piping after the resonator) that if one were to get rid of either res/cat would ultimately increase droning.

We're running an open obx right now, it sounds louder than just about any car i've been in, makes most muscle cars and bikes seem quiet in comparison. If im feeling adventurous later i may film it. My cammed e36 M3 with straight pipes was nowhere near as loud.

Open obx downpipe with extension and no resonators was loud as hell. The Turbo whistled so loud it sounded like a dump truck/bus Turbo spooling up,
