Intakes?

Which one is better?
K&N Cold Air Intake System
or
K&N TYPHOON SHORT RAM INTAKE

they are both around the same price ($200).
edit:
now im deciding from these 2
Intake System Cold Air
or
Intake System Version 2.0 Automatic

Neither is better than a real cold air intake, as these are both hot air intakes. You can do better for a little more than $200.

Those are both actually the same. FWIW, my wife has that intake on her car and in conjunction with her other mods did 267 whp so I really don't think it is holding her back and a plus for us is that it is California legal.

I had the typhoon before getting a ddm intake. stay away from the HAI and go with one of the many popular CAI's

Alta, DDM, craven just to name a few...

I now run a gutted out JCW intake with an ITG filter, IMHO the best way to go, no added noise and the plastic doesnt heatsoak like metal.

really pretty . and a heads up, the alta silicon intake hose is the best one imo, so no matter what cai you get , i recommend you get the alta intake hose.

The K&N Typhoon intake comes with a CARB sticker and is 50 state legal, but only if you have an 02-04

For my own auto Cooper S... I went ahead and added a K&N panel filter (OEM size) to the stock airbox.

Next I opened up the lower half of the stock airbox to about 2" by 4".
I then removed the cowl piece and opened that up too.

That, and a few feet of foam insulation did me quite well and the only costs were the K&N filter.

I can't see how this is anymore restrictive then the JCW unit, it still looks stock under the hood, and I remember years ago when the Tacoma folks determined that a less restricted factory airbox with K&N actually made more HP on the dyno then the CAI or Typhoon style air intakes.

It did wonders for my Lexus as well... and again, everything looks stock when you pop the hood!

Wow, I haven’t been on here in awhile now but I need some opinions.

I have a '03 R50 with over 103K, and I still haven’t done any performance mods... :/ My last car was moded heavily from cams to lights but when I bought my mini I said I would simply maintain it...well the car guy inside of me just cant take it anymore. After going through oil changes, new thermostat, new fuel system, I am dying to get in and add some much needed moding.

I just wanted to get some opinions on the best intake for my mini? I've look at the AFE magnum force intake, the ddm, and others. Your help would be great.

The Alta is a great performing one also. Biggest benefit is the fact that it is an oiled foam filter. Best available.

Both the DDM and Alta have oiled foam filters

If anyone wants to swap I have the Alta 2.0 with blue silicone hose. I want my DDM CAI back

Good Choice, I love mine. I also have told to others, yes it is a little louder, but once you hear it you'll only want more.

I'm with you on this one. I like the noise it makes. When I'm heading down the highway I love that I have a nice exhaust note, the supercharger is spinning in my engine and you can hear the air being sucked in from my intake. It really lets you "feel" the car and what is happening.

I run the DDM air box, couldn't be happier !

There are several things I like about the DDM CIA box over all the others out on the market. First off I like the fact that the DDM box only incloses the filter and not the ECU. Second,It comes with a lid at no extra charge and has it's own backing wall, It also allows you to keep the bottom half of the OEM air box allowing for the front cold air inlet to still be functional. Fit and finish is bar none ! Third, The stainless steal construction looks really nice under the hood IMOP ! (They also offer it Powder coated black) !

Lot's of options out there, I suppose as with all aftermarket parts for our cars, to each his own !

Here's a couple of pix's of mine !
With and Without tower brace !
