I've heard the DDM for the R50 and have to say, it's pretty addictive, it doesn't have the whine of the supercharger on my R53 (which also has a DDM) but it's a really unique, almost exotic sound on the naturally aspirated cars.

The stock Alta does seal up against the hood so the box top is just extra bling (same for the V 2 Alta box).

Same performance between the two, just different looks.

I have the lid and it does look nice, however I have seen a few people w/o the lid and the corners can tear the hood lining. This is no big deal except for O.C.D. people like me.

The Alta comes with a rubber gasket and it shouldn't do any damage to the hood. In fact the insulation actually helps with sealing up the box.

Does DDM intake have more throaty sound than Alta V2?

I have a 2004 MCS and I really want an intake. I hear that Alta gives a loud supercharger whine. But I'm looking for something that would give it a bit more throaty sound. Any advice?

Thanks

I have the DDM as well and so far I like it. With DDM you get an extra air/vacuum sucking sound when going full throttle.

FWIW...

I went in for a smog with the real HAI (K&N on the throttle body) and the smog tech just wanted to make sure that the breather hose was going into the intake, not blowing into atmosphere. He said that anything before the TB just didn't matter (to him).

When I went to the K&N site, it seemed that the intakes that the CARB sticker applied to was year dependant... Go figure!

Wanna trade? I HAD the DDM then went to the Alta. They are both great but I really like the DDM

Do you recommend getting DDM with a new hose or would stock hose do just fine?
