Drivetrain RMW Street Header vs OBX Dyno
RMW Street Header vs OBX Dyno
Jan retuned my car Friday because I put his street header on 2 weeks ago.The old numbers(in yellow )reflect my car with the obx/oem cat setup. The new numbers are reflective of the addition of an RMW street header.
.....191 hp/178 tq (up nearly 10 on both hp/tq)
This is with stock cam and stock head.Pretty good for an automatic!
RMW cam is next.
Thanks Jan for leaving the warmth of your home on the day after CHRISTMAS!

Yes.I had a tune after the obx went on in Feb.
-The "dip" on the dyno graph is one of the mysteries that comes with tuning the automatic. The old dyno graph was even worse.Jan smoothed things out a lot.

This looks very "fake". That graphs don't show the truth about the two headers, ofcourse the RMW is much better, but the title shouldn't be OBX vs RMW dyno. And ofcourse, no matter how good Jan is, he didn't add you 52 hp at the mid range.
I don't know why you would think that it looks fake. I was there getting a baseline done for my Jetta at the same time on the other dyno, so I know it wasn't fake. He has an automatic and they are very difficult to tune because they will up-shift before hitting redline and are nowhere near what a manual dyno chart will look like.
Then, for that reason, i say that Jan didn't double the power and torque at the midrange. And what i don't like, is that he uses the "fault" graph, which doesn't show the truth, then shows his, after the tune, which all of a sudden, is all correct, and has gained 60 hp at the midrange, because of the remap, what a miracle. This is just funny.
I apologise that i can't express the way i want, what i mean, but i am sure you can see my point.
fake huh?
....well "Captain BMW",here is the dyno graph from February tune. The ONLY VARIABLE HERE IS the addition of the RMW header.PERIOD.
The increase is as I said it was....around 10 hp/tq.
can you read the numbers ok??
....it says 182 hp/171 tq

His tuning skills are always the real deal.

...cam is on the near horizon.
I'm not sure that I understand.Am I the douche for appreciating his tune(calling him "the man") or are you chapped by the guy who called the dyno graph a fake .
Your no douche, just a happy customer. As his friend it's my responsibility to F with him as much as possible
. Especially when he's "the man"

There were a couple of us there that day, myself included. "Fake"??? Both were tunes done by Jan. 1st (could call a baseline?) with OBX and a tune, then 2nd with RMW header and a re-tune. What can't be understood here??
I don't know if I missed something along the thread but my understanding is that OBX headers also made HP & TQ vs stock manifold or was it due to the RMW tune?
What is the HP & TQ to $ ratio between RMW and OBX assuming the header is the only variable?

Removal of oem manifold(inserting header X)= more power/tq.
The tune was a variable present at both sessions.
In this case my car apparently enjoyed the addition of the rmw header...cuz it made more power.Wether it can be chalked up to replacing the stock cat with a freer flowing one,or having a better primary/port design or better fitment,I know not.
Price of an obx header, welded to an oem cat is about $200-300.
Price of an RMW Street Header is $850.
The difference in sound alone is worth it to me.
I am confident in the performance difference. The cool thing is this;my engine has never sounded smoother!
