Just ran across a listing on eBay for a new engine/tranny with 11 miles on it. I wonder what the story behind that is.

MINI Cooper S Engine

For someone looking to turbo their MC, I would start with this! Get the Low compression, Forged MCS engine and 6spd transmission, take the SC off and install a turbo and drop it in your MC... That would be coool!

This seller looks legit.
3 hours left on auction and about $1650 now.
Has not met reserve so unless the price jumps by $1000 I think the deal will close under reserve and the seller will not be required to sell low.
Figure the value of the engine as is may be in the $2500 range.
Also the shipping weight is about 300 pounds so if I wanted to ship it to Hawaii I'd have a $250 to $300 shipping bill

That would be cool for a classic mini, or you could just squeeze a B16 honda engine in it and turbo it

$2500 sounds about right minihune.

rfibanez, I saw a car show on tv where a guy and his son totally riced out a classic mini complete with body kit, rims, b16 with center exit exhaust, and a honda steering wheel. Why didnt he just buy a honda! Makes me mad.

And I also dont like it when people say BMW MINI Cooper for sale, yes we all know BMW owns it and what not, but it's not really a BMW model, it's its own brand so stop using the BMW infront of it! I dont go around saying my parents car is a Chevy GMC Yukon XL or a GM GMC Yukon XL or a Cadillac GMC Yukon XL, etc...

BK - you mean you don't like when people call ferrari's the Fiat Ferrari 360 Modeno? I agre with ya.

The b16a/b conversion on the classic Minis is quite an interesting one and several people have done it....now going with the widebody kit, honda steering wheel, etc is a bit overkill but I've always wanted to get a classic Mini donor car and fit a b16b in it.

I'd put the honda engine in it but not a honda steering wheel and stuff like that. I'd make everything look original but have a turbo honda engine in it and sneak up on the riced out hondas at the stop lights

I think that anyone who wants to include the BMW label is well within their rights to do so . When I look at my certificate of origin paper it clearly states that BMW is the original owner of the car, it does not say MINI USA or MINI it says very clearly BMW of North America

The auction is over and the high bid was $3050 but that was not enough to meet the reserve price so no one get the engine and the seller can now repost the item for sale.

RandyBMC had bid up to about $2030.
I'm not sure if the engine is worth the $3000 or if $4000 is closer to the true value.

I paid $2500 which included shipping from a salvafe yard, for my complete S engine. 6,000 miles. It is being transformed into an asswhooping heman engine soon to hit the streets.

Well, when you finish your "KA"/ HeMan engine mod please do take pictures and let us know how you like it.
By the way, Do you have an "S" on your chest, wear blue tights and have a red cape? I think I might have seen you before.
Cheers.

didn't I see where MiniMania is selling the Getrag Six Speed tranny alone for about $5K?! If so, this package -- engine and tranny is way cheap. What am I missing?

Sorry to jack the thread here again

I agree with you dkstone, they can if they want, everyone knows that BMW owns it. But like my example said you dont say GM GMC Yukon or GM Chevy Tahoe. I just find it annoying.

Sorry

Yea, except if Ford used to make the GMC Yukon or the Chevy Tahoe and now GM makes them you might be calling it a GM GMC Yukon or a GM Chevy Tahoe.....
