Janspeed & Borla Cooper Combo on an S

Thought I'd post a vid of the Janspeed Manifold coupled to a Borla Cooper exhaust as I love the sound this combo makes on the S. (Excue the dirty car... too posh to wash :D)

Also below that is a 60-130 mph test run. Would love to hear what times others are getting.

I like the exhaust note, sounds very throaty. Nice pull from 30-130

Just to relay any fears, it was done in the UK and on a Network Rail access road which is a nice long stretch of private road next to a railway line. You just have to 'tip' the security guard ;-)

True. It's just that I've never been part of a locked thread before, and as stupid as it sounds, I want to be!

That is some great footage!
What RPM are you shifting at, when you run the high 13s at 105 at the track?

So, a quick review of the video shows the shift points as (approximately) -- I presume it's a 6-speed.

3rd-4th at 70mph
4-5 @ 95
5-6 @ 114

Is that right?

Sure sounds easy...
thanks for the video

Thanks, but I have three more questions: is your car an early 6-speed or a later model 6-speed? Would you be able to go much faster than 130 in 6th? If so, when would you change from 5th to 6th?

Of course all this is academic as there's no where around here that I could even go 130 let alone faster...

Early box... speedo reads just over 140 when changing from 5th to 6th, but 6th goes nowhere, car just hits a wall after changing.

I'm intereated in the borla cooper mod you did. Was there any mods you had
to do to the exhaust to make it fit on your S. I like the look of the side
exhaust. If you could post a how to that would be great.
Thanks. Christian.

I will be doing a similar exhaust in the next couple weeks over my spring break from school, I am having a shop down in va fab up a single sided, side exit stainless exhaust with a magnaflow "race" muffler. The only parts i need to get on the side to get this to mount up is the rear lower black trim piece from a cooper ($50) and the two side reflector trim pieces that attach to it as those from a mcs do not fit to the rear trim of an mc... dont ask me why, this is just what i have read... i'll try to get a vid up in the exhaust thread in a few weeks when it is complete... should sound interesting running the meagan header with test pipe, and pretty much a flow through exhaust...

i know this is an older topic, but 2nd gear hits limiter at ~73-4 in my 03, and agreeing with bigshow, 6th is just for lowspeed cruising (50+), or if you threw an extra turbo/bigger supercharger on it and could go past 140.

I love the look and the sound of this mod. You have to alter the hangers to make it fit but apart from that its pretty straight forward.

You guys are lucky becuase you sit on the left so by having a right exit borla cooper style exhaust, you're balancing out the car, whereas over here I need to ave the borla on the left really to help with left/right weight balance on the car in a perfect world. Also, people behind you in 'fast' cars think you've got a Cooper so when they try and race you their left scratching their heads as to why they got beat by a 120 bhp Cooper (not that I condone street racing)

My limiter is 7,250 but yes on the vbox gps it allows you to just creep over 70 in 2nd as you hit the limiter which means you can get some awesome 30-70 times in 2nd. A shot of NOS is really needed in sixth if you want to reach the end of 6th gear... but if you've got a long enough test road you can hit a gps verified 152 but the front end starts to lift so badly that it's scary. You can do a half turn left and right and nothing happens
