Alta Turbo back problems

hi everyone,

i have just installed alta turbo back on my MCS and my bodyshop friends have been complaining that the fitments are not as good as we were expecting. The installation took plenty of hours. The catback dual tips cannot be positioned exactly at centre but rightward. Also, the engine check light is on once engine is started.

Just about a week later, the left holder of alta catbak was loosen and fell off when i was driving. Luckily, the right side holder was still working or else the entire catbak could have fallen onto the ground.

I like the designs and the sound of alta catbak. However, i am having headache with these problems and i am wondering if anyone who have installed alta turbo back is having the same problems too? i hope i did not waste my money ><"

the check engine light is probably due to a bad downpipe, fitment is what it is, 3" seems to be a bit too big. I spent over 6 months & 70 pm's & phonecalls with Adam & crew trying to get mine sorted out. Still stuck with the catback portion, but I did eventually get a refund on the downpipe I returned. Stop by a Schucks/Autozone/Pepboys or such to get your CEL checked (for free), hopefully someone just forgot to reconnect one of the o2 sensors. If it's a P0420, you're in the same boat as many NAM'ers before you.

As for the catback falling down, there should have been little stops that clamped down on the hangers. Maybe they were forgotten or not tightened enough ? depending on where you clamp the stops will determine your side to side fitment as well.

The overall fit and finish is in general very good on this system. The DP is a total pain in the *** and requires 2 people to put on. You need to line up the 3 studs on the turbo with the bottom engine stud all at the same time, much like putting on your pants, socks and shoes all in one pull. Oh and pull off both front and rear heat sheilds!!!!!!
I pulled the studs out of the turbo attached the bottom irst the put the turbo studs back in last. As for the muffler adjustment this is totally adjustable. you should have 2 round clamps with an allen bolt which clamp dwn on the muffler brackets you align and tighten too easy. Do you have pictures? The actual cat back should only take 1 hour even modestly equipped shop

Hi Eddie,

I know we spoke via e-mail sorry I didn't get back to this sooner. I believe we figured out that the installer didn't use the collar clamps on the muffler section to not only hold it in the hangers, but also to center it.

My apologies that they missed that and nearly damaged the system. But as I mentioned in e-mail if you EVER have any questions or concerns, prior to, during or after an installation PLEASE let me know.

This is a WELL made system, that provides adjustment for different rear aprons, etc. What happened here is NOT typical and should not be considered a defect in the ALTA system.

If anyone has any other questions PLEASE let me know! Always happy to help!

Good points! Thank you for your information. I wish MINI made for an easier removal of the DP. The heat shields are just a PITA! Not much we can do to make it easier though.

Thanks again!
