I got a 1365 today! The gates 1370 is only coming in a couple days, probably next week :( Has to be shipped from the supplier which is 1000 miles away.

Can I give this a try?

So long as you can get it on, and the tensioner is not totally compressed, go for it! It's not a big job, so give it a try.

good luck

What belt to use

OK, I need some help, please. I have an Alta -15% pulley and a +3% Flywheel. To top it off I also have a +5%Altanator to keep the alternator alive. The question is what size of belt should I use?

Gatorback
NAPA
Gates
other

Thanks ahead.

PS. I did some damage to the passenger plastic runner under the door, outside of the car and the rear right plastic jack placement point. Name a place where I can get parts for reasonable price. Thanks.

I have had tensioner issues for the past 3 years of owning my Cooper S. I have replaced my tensioner 3 times now and MULTIPLE belts and have yet to correct the issue. I had installed the new tensioner about 3 months ago with a new belt for the 17% Alta pulley I have (I checked all the part numbers and I had definaitly bought the right belt every single time) I even tried to get a size smaller then the ones that were suggested to use and it would not fit, it was way to tight.. Now I checked my tensioner 2 days ago and you know the small tab at top of the tensioner thats twisted (ie. the end of the peice of metal with the "holes" in it) is completely missing aka. BROKEN OFF! This car honestly is just ridiculous sometimes and I just cant take it anymore, lets just say Iam sad to see it go in 2010 but Iam damn happy that I wont have to pay for fixing it every 2 months. IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR PLEASE TELL ME BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD MORE TENSIONERS AND BELTS AT 230 a peice and 50 a peice.. PLUS INSTALLATION!!!!!!!!
