Just installed my Alta Intake and... ?!?!?!

I just installed my alta intake (no silicon) and I love it. I read a lot about people having problems with the filter falling off, I'm sort of having the reverse. My filter stays on the shield very sturdy, but the hose that goes from the filter to the engine keeps popping off the alta heat shield. I have it clamped down, but it still slides off. I can hear it come off, I pull over, put it back and start over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Other than that major pain, I love the intake

Make sure that you clean the collar and tube thoroughly and try not to over tighten the hose clamp.

You could even try a bit of tape on the collar to increase the diameter and friction.

I cleaned all surfaces when I did the install. then dried them all before installing.

problem seems to be that the collar is HUGE and really a b#*& to get the tube over. everything was cleaned. The tube also seems to line up about 1 inch higher than the hole in the heat shield. not sure if thats normal. so it pulls "up" and then when I put a load on the engine it pops off.

I've highlighted the tube red here so you can know which one I'm talking about (took the image from Alta's instructions)

I would contact Alta and check to make sure the air box has been installed correctly. It may be sitting to high.

As long as the hose is tight, it should stay on the heat shield. Did you make sure that it's clean where it connects to the heat shield the other times that you installed the hose? Let me know, thanks!

Yup, cleaned it, and each time I'd take my white rag and rub the inside to make sure it was truly still clean. and yet she pops right off. I really love this system, and need to get this to stay. Any thoughts, maybe a different clamp (all I had was the stock one) would raising it be bad? (hitting the hood/bonnet, I have no idea what the clearance is)

When removing the stock cowl did you happen to also remove the rubber bump stops that the bottom portion of the stock airbox sits on? Just a thought but it might be what's causing it to sit low...I have the their newer CAI on my car and it fit perfectly fine.

The problem with the filter falling off tends to be from tightening it way too much. Could be the same on the other end?
