X02 Intercooler

Has anyone installed one of the cheap intercoolers they have on ebay now?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HIGH-FLOW-TOP-MOUNT-INTERCOOLER-02-06-MINI-COOPER-S_W0QQitemZ270269182561QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item270 269182561&_trkparms=39%3A1%7C65%3A3%7C240%3A1318&_ trksid=p4506.c0.m245

I found a little info on them at the STI forum. The Subaru guys say they are good. It seems like a great price compared to the other offerings on the market currently. I am surprised onone has asked about these yet (as far as I can tell after searching the forums).

looks like it has 15 rows compared to 10 with the stock. The STI guys say that pressure drop is pretty low too.

Forget the IC, what about that dash cover? Damn, I want one...fur shur!

Check the outlet boot--the clamps are so displaced relative to the stock or any other IC I've seen. An Alta or M7 silicone boot would not fit and allow that much displacement rearward.
And is that cover a GP cover, or a stock one? Looks stock to me.

Wow, that was pretty damn furry, right there. Can't decide which is worse the dash or the dirt. Maybe not the best pic to showcase a product for sale.

For A2A, it seems the best bet is the GP IC.

UMMMMM Hard for me to take someone's product seriously when it's piled onto such a dirt pile.... Doesn't show the kind of attention to detail that most good vendors, engineers exhibit... 2cents.

anyone else notice in the picture there are not bolts holding the cover/air diverter on ? It looks like you might be able to install the brackets for the front bolts, but it doesnt look like its possible to install the 2 rear bolts at all.

To be honest, the stock diverter is shyt. Anyone getting an aftermarket IC should be considering a different diverter. The fact that the rear doesn't bolt down just reinforces the idea that you should be looking at another IC...
Actually given the results recently published by Intense in another thread, (which simply reinforce what many of us have been saying for years), the OEM IC is really very good! Waste your money elsewhere on Ebay.

I wasn't considering purchasing it, I was just pointing out that it looks like the stock i/c cover, which they show in the pictures, can't be properly installed...not a sign of careful design and thorough testing. I would have to agree about it probably being a waste of money.

Injectors and tuning, stock intercooler is the best, next to gp or w2a!

Hey Justaguyinvegas,
I bought this intercooler about 3 weeks ago, had it installed on my car. It requiered some work and triming. It is not a straight bolt on to say the least, but I guess for $199 it is a pretty good deal. I actually have some pictures that I could either email you or post here on NAM. I just need to find out how to do that. Please be indulgent this is only my 2nd or 3rd post. Give me some time.

That sucker was NOT made for a MCS! Look at that displacement of the inlet and outlet couplers...oops. The weld quality on the inlet doesn't inspire me too much either, especially if you're looking for a good seal to avoid boost leaks.

Try again...
