Replacement Head

OK, looks like my continual overheats may be the result of a warped/cracked head. Dealer found exhaust gasses in my coolant, so they pulled the head and it's at a machine shop for evaluation. Someone here suggested that given the troubles I've had I should try to get them to install and aftermarket head. Intriguing thought...

What will an aftermarket head get me? What else do I need to make it worth the effort? Cam shaft? Header?

Not counting labor (I hope to browbeat my dealer into that), what could I expect to pay for a new head?

What is out there? Until today I hadn't even considered it, and if the head is proven to be the culprit, the work will happen very soon so I don't have a lot of time to waste if I'm going to make this happen.

Heaps of after market heads out there - just do your homework!
If you are doing the head it is easier to do the headers and cam shaft at the same time and will save you money if you want to do it later on.
It just depends on your budget.
I have a Thumper head and I am more than happy with it

If you want to spend more it is hard to go past RMW
The results of the heads speak for themselves...

I don't think the dealer will warranty an after market head. If you do decide to go with one, Jan's Jesus head is the best out there that has produced the best number gains. I would also go with his cam which works wonders and it would save you money if you do them at the same time.

When your done, have Jan tune your car and you will be blown away.

HMMMmmmm...... is the labor going to be thru the dealer?? They might do the labor and only warant that.. as the part isnt theirs ( off their shelfs).

With no mods a ported head usually will give 25-35 WHP on a small( stock size) valve more mid to top end on the larger valve heads. Coupled with other mods.. the Head is what will pull it all together. jsut a thought..

Just me............................
