Smoking

Hi, so I just installed my 15% pulley with a new belt, after driving it, letting it sit then driving it again, the car smokes from the pulley section, like something is wrong with the tensioner. Why I think its the tensioner is because it is showing half of the hole on the tensioner and also when it stops vibrating/shaking, the rattle and smoking stops

Tensioners do go so that could be the problem. Are you sure it isn't the penetrating lube you sprayed on the shaft the get the pulley off?

ya, its not that because it smoked pretty bad and smelled like burning rubber, also the belt has slipped to the edge of the supercharger pulley, like how the pulley is 5 teeth, like the edge of the belt is off it. So im thinking its the tensioner it became loose and the belt slipped a bit

It could be the tensioner, but i'd suspect that it's more likey to do with the problems you had installing the pulley.

I'd serously consider calling in a professional at this point, seems like you're having a lot of bad luck with that pulley install. Best get it checked out by a pro before anything else goes wrong.

after reading more, the rattleing and everything goes away once the tensioner stops vibrating, so I doubt the supercharger or the install of the pulley is bad because when it is running perfect, the pulley doesnt move or anything, the belt turns perfectly straight. It just feels like the tensioner is bad because when I rev it to about 1500 and let go, i could hear a rattle meaning the tensioner rattling, The noise is coming from around there too not near the supercharger

just looked at the car more, the crank pulley appears to look bent, keeps shaking left and right. I remember my idiot friend started the engine, while the engine was titled so the crank was rubbing on the chassis. :( is it possible I bent the shaft on the crank pulley?!?!

If the "shaft" on the crank pulley is bent, you bent the crank (very very bad). Hopefully, it's just the crank pulley that is bad. Those can be had for about the price of a SC pulley.

IDK why in the hell he did it but he did. And also there is a HUGE dent on the crank pulley, so Im assuming the crank isnt bent, just the pulley is bent because sometimes it will spin and not make the noise, so I guess the crank pulley is out of balance and also bent where the bolt goes so it wobbles.

You can't bend the crank..

But what you can do is mess the balancer up, which is most likely what happen. If it is moving as you described its time to replace it before it grenades on you.

The terminology is getting garbled. Your buddy toasted your Balancer/ Vibration Damper on the crankshaft. Get another one (under many names: harmonic balancer, damper, or Vibration Damper) before you do really bad damage to the engine or other parts of the Mini.

BMW/Mini calls them Vibration Damper

It difficult at times to remember all the slang term for all the parts.

Yes the vibration Damper is on the crank (crank pulley) and the poly (ribbed or drive belt) belt goes around it.

Hey I get people that ask what my license plate means all the time ??
And most drive MINI's

Haha, ya i am not use to the terms people use for things, i like to use the plain old fashion words that are easy to remember haha.

But from reading from your plate I assume your MC has a blown engine right.... nice plate tho btw

The old HOT RODs with Super Chargers the slang term for the Super Charger was BLOWER
So like your MCS you also have a BLOWN Engine.
