how to weatherproof?

after much thought i would like to leave my ecu/pnp under the hood.my clubman only has 3000mi so i want easy removal for service. there is some space by the washer fluid reservior up front under the brace. i did a test run and it will zip-tie in real nice, but the rain/moisture scares me. any thought on waterproofing or any ideas? thanks

since the car is new(3000mi), i would not want to invalidate any warranty. the service advisor has let me install a new intercooler, cai, and silicone tubes so far.. the pnp from alta/m7 sent him into a cold sweat. so i figure what he does not know wont hurt him.

So you would only be removing it when you need service.....right? So why would you want to leave it under the hood for the techs to see it?

i dont think you understand.. the system plugs into the ecu and the original harness "piggybacks" the top of the pnp unit. when i meant remove it for service i mean TOTALLY REMOVING the harness as well so there are no traces that a chip was ever there. im just trying to weatherproof the connections to the chip as well as the chip and map button.

Actually, I wonder about leaving the cover off where the three plugs are attached to the ECU. Were you able to reattach the cover?

OK, now I understand what you are trying to accomplish. A little risky, but I see that Alta has done some tests to "guarantee" its success. I would weatherproof it by applying heatshrink tape to the body of it, and sealing off the cable entries with silicon.
