Drivetrain Turbocharged Mini
Just keep your ear to the ground....
I know that MiniMania's turbo is a no go... you should find out why...
There is a kit, in production, and something like this will need to be tested before it's offered... So I would just sit tight and wait for results to pour out.
We have not hit year 2 yet, turbo's are on the way... and I still think plumbing a turbo in an S is next to impossible, unless you cut a hole out of the bonnet.
Speaking of ugly holes cut out of bonnets, check out the Diamond Racing Mini

Yeah, a turbo isn't "cure all." In fact, there will be some drivetrain issues as power goes up.
But for some to suggest the MCS to be a better candidate for a turbo... I don't get. 1) Some figures floating around on the boards are now are citing a 300hp limit for the MCS stock drivetrain [you search, I'm typing]. With the affordability of the existing mods, 250-280hp has already been achieved---cheaper than a turbo mod. And if you're the type to want more power [aren't we all?], your gonna want more. So this 300hp barrier---disappears or something? 2) The MCS comes with an SC. Wouldn't it be more practical to upgrade the SC? [pulley shmoolly, upgrade the charger for 'real' gains... but wait, no one's even thought of that yet]. But someone did add a wheel to the 3-wheeler.
Randy citied the MCS Getrag.
Good thing the Getrag 5spd is schelduled for installation in the MC.
I always thought adding power and upgrading the driveline coexisted anyways. Upgraded power without risks... what! This isn't a warrantied mod.

>>I would be interested, depending on the definition of "affordable". Most turbo kits for Civics and such are in the $2000 to $3000 range (I noticed your Miata kit is $2295, that's affordable in my opinion.)
I agree. If it is somewhere in $2000 to $3000 kit for MC, I'd be interested. I'd be happy with modest gains of HP and torque. Not looking for a monster car here.
Anyhow, can you fit more stuff under the MC hood? It's pretty cramped under there already...
Kazu.

That hole you are referring to is a thing I did to test the Viper in other configurations. I.E. Direct Ram Induction.
What does a hole cut in the hood of a Diamond Racing Car have to do with a turbo charged mini?
Just curious...

that's because it's bad PR as a vendor to dis peeps.
I'm not a vendor, I speak my mind... sometimes people disagree... sometimes they applaude.
I have yet to hold my tongue either way, ugly or not.
The Alum. IceCream Cone was "TRICK"!

We must try to keep emmisions and accesories intact, and make it fit with no interferences, and ease of installation.
Also again price would be under $3k, that is the ultimate goal.
Thanks

If your upgrade would cost between 2 to 3m that brings the price of the MC up to the MCS and the owner now loses their warrenty. I am sure there will be a few people who could come up with some hair brianed justification to take that route, but the number of people, or size of the market could never justify the cost of your R&D.
Want to stay ahead of the game, drop the idea.

i dont know what your talking about, but i didnt buy and MCS because i couldnt justify paying 3 grand more for 50 horsepower. for the 3 grand difference, igot potions that i can use and that make my driving experience better. look at it this way, i can stop as good as you, i can corner as good as you...the only place that an MCS beats out an MC is in a straight line.
GO FOR IT!! if its reliable and i'll be able to get 100k out of my car without problems, i'll take one!!!!
200hp would be nice, but if 165 is more realistic, i'll take that too!!!
