hmm ? to ponder for sure?

Back on topic:
if you want to dress up the hoses these are a good alternative to the conventional clamps.

Hose Clamps

Want a quality reusable hose clamp. ABA brand.

http://www.bakerprecision.com/hoseclmp.htm

100% Stainless Steel, even the hardware.

Rolled edges that will not cut into the hose

Stamped threads to provide even force over the entire face of the clamp.

I forgot about these. I
use these on all my smaller stuff like heater hoses and Fuel lines.

Off topic. looks like the Motor in the name Detroit Motor City has more to do with entertainment rather then a power unit.

sorry not sure right now. I changed what ever it was to the 1 1/4 id because of a project. I am pretty sure that at the radiator upper hose the od is around 47 mm which is about 2.

the radiator hoses are in....i thought they would be wider but i guess comparing them to the old hoses is a bit of a miss match since the old ones are rubber and have expanded with time.....i like that the top hose is one piece....i think im gonna get a new expansion tank while im at it....anybody have a write up on the install....i have a bentley manual though id like to see how everyone else did it

Just remember not to tighten the bleed screw with a spanner. Its finger tight only! If you tighten it with a spanner, after a while it will split.

Yep, when I was a kid, a neighbor told that one to me....How come it's not called engine oil instead of motor oil?

I thought I read that you are using a water wetter? If so you will use less antifreeze to make it work properly. You may want to read the recommendations. Also look at the temperature region you will be operating your Mini in. You may not need a 50/50 mix, which is the maximum mixture between water and antifreeze. If you read the back on the antifreeze it is scaled for mixture. The more the antifreeze the hotter the coolant will run. Antifreeze raises the boiling point and lowers the freezing point. Coolant is a bad descriptive word for antifreeze. Less is better in hotter climates.

I like how you get everything ready for the project instead of finding things you need in the middle of it.

I use REDLINE does it not say that to get the maximum bennifit lowering temperature to reduce the antifreeze?? I can't remember would have to go look at a bottle. But if thats what it recomends 50/50/ 10

You are at work again

If you want to be smarter then most, seriously read the back of the antifreeze container. Use the bare minimum required for the environment you will most drive your MINI. If you get into colder area's ad straight coolant to increase freeze point protection.
You would be surprised if you read about coolants what you can learn to lower the operating temperatures of an engine.

It all depends on how cold it gets in your area. Normally, 30% antifreeze is considered a minimum to maintain its lubricating properties to the pump. This is the mix I use with Water Wetter on my classic Lotus. As Nitro said, look at the antifreeze container. They should list the freezing points at various mixtures. If it isn't on the container, look on their site. Water Wetter should help at any mixture level.

Also, I'm not sure if you get more coolant out when you change all the hoses (compared to a normal drain where you disconnect the lower radiator hose) but a normal drain shouldn't take more than 1 gallon total of coolant.
