^ Interesting, Yakatak.

Frankly, I'm pretty near my wits' end in trying to keep ahead of the quirks this car has thrown at me since I got it in Nov 2008. For a relatively new car (I purchased it new) it's been very problematic. I'm seriously thinking of trading it in and jumping the MINIship. I love the ride of the car but it's getting to the point at which it's just not enough. I need a reliable daily driver and this hasn't turned out to be it for me.

Update: 1/11/14 and I'm seeing signs of chrome hood scoop blistering! GAH!

Hi, folks.

Well, the M7 shield has staved off warping of my 4th (???) chrome hood scoop but alas it has not eliminated it. Getting out of the car yesterday I noticed the ominous first sign: the wrinkly, blistering of the chrome coating on the scoop. GRRRRR! It's just a matter of time before it gets so sorry looking that I will be compelled to replace it ....AGAIN. The MINI dealer already said no more warranty replacements so I'll just have to pay for this one. I no longer go to the dealer, though. I found a decent small shop that seems comfortable servicing MINIs so I'll have them install it. *sigh* I'm still happy I got the shield, though. The hood got waaaaay too hot without it and I have cats on my car constantly.

Anyone have a carbon fiber hood scoop that hasn't warped? I think i might go that route

^ From what I've heard, the carbon fiber scoop is more resilient.

I am a chrome addict, though, so I'm just resigned to replacing the damned chrome scoops when they warp enough to really annoy me. *shrug*

Sorry to resurrect an ancient post, but where does one find a replacement chrome scoop these days? The chrome on my wife's 2014 convertible S has gotten cracks and I can't seem to find a chromed replacement.
