S/C Pulley Modifacation

Hi All

New to the forum and new (to me) MCS 04 owner. Have been reading info on S/C pulley replacement and have good idea of cost but what about HP increase? Is there a noticeable increase to HP with this single mod? Is it worth spending the money on this one mod with the expectation of improved performance? Also does the added Rpm of the S/C affect its longevity?

In a nutshell... is it worth me spending my time & money on just one mod? I am on a budget and dont want to expect more than is possible.

Thanks in advance of any help I get and I apologise if this topic has been kicked around before - but I looked but didnt see this direct question asked.

A pulley is the biggest bang-for-your-buck mod you can do to a MCS. It will be more noticeable than an intake, exhaust, etc. It does spin the SC faster but the JCW kit has nearly a 15% pulley on it from the factory. There's a whole lot of people who have been running them for a long time.

Thanks for the reply. Great info. Any idea on Hp? I think the MCS is around 170hp, so can I expect a 10% increase?

Thanks

Yeah, from what I've seen, usually 15-20hp.

I'm really keen on a 15% Pulley Kit too, however it'll be hard to get it installed here. Going to Mini here would cost me so much in labour that it'll probably end up costing more than the kit itself to simply install.

There are plenty guides for doing the install yourself. If you have jack stands, a jack, and some wrenches all you'll need is pulley puller and about 3 hours or so and you'll be good to go. Do yourself a favor and check out one of the DIY's before you decide to pay someone to do it for you.
-Another thing is that your dealer may not even install non-bmw parts on your car for you

I have decided to do the mod myself after seeing Randy Webb's walk through and I have all the tools, so I think I can do it safely.

Thanks for your inputs guys.

Ju5tin it looks like you might be doing it yourself dude

Cheers

JCW pulley is 11%. I don't know why people keep saying is 15% after so many threats about pulley size.
