Alta Intercooler Diverter

Fellow NAM members: Has anyone purchased and installed one of these intercooler diverters made by Alta? It makes sense from the photos that it might improve airflow through the intercooler and cool off the intake air. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this product. Is there any real performance improvement? Is it enough to be felt by the seat of your pants? Thanks in advance. Kukaepe

I've never tested one, but I have tested the stock IC. Even if it somehow reduced intake temps by 20-30 degrees (Which is outrageous, and pretty much impossible) you wouldn't gain more than 5-6 HP. 5 HP is well below the butt dyno threshold... sorry!

The sprayer is a nice concept, though I wouldn't want to lose my washer fluid reservoir.

Edit: Doh, just realized you were talking about the R56's intercooler.

I also tested this car (Stock) and the intercooler was very efficient. No issues whatsoever with heat soak, even on a warm CA day. I'll be doing some more testing later on if I can get ahold of another R56 to run numbers on!

I'd say save your money and spend it on something like a down-pipe. You'll gain some actual power.
