i was wondering if anyone has modified the alta exhaust to be one sided (like a cooper), cutting the exhaust right before it makes that extreme hook around the battery. would there be any real gains by doing so? any problems do to lack of back pressure

ive thought about this mod too. i worry about the back pressure and volume. plus youll have to customize a new hanger since the hanger just past the bend will be eliminated since you'll be cutting it off. might have some nasty wobbling, the alta wobbles quite a bit as it is

+1 not enough back pressure is a bad thing.

 

Yup. I am fairly sure that back pressure in the exhaust system is crucial in building boost in the supercharger.
