Wow, I'm impressed...that would be pretty sweet instead of the classic OBDII Scan Gauge

My PLX order is shipping today for receipt tomorrow at Custom Mini Shop. I'm getting: DM-100 + SM-AFR combo, SM-EGT, SM-AIT & an extra DM-100. I'm going to have one DM-100 be the full-time a/f display & AIT & EGT on the other. Since I already have the Promini NAV bracket for boost & oil pressure, Dr.Steve (CMS) will be mounting the gauges in Cravenspeed's dual 52mm pods. I'm hoping to have this done in the next two weeks & I'll take picture's for y'all when I'm/we're done.

Well, having a SGII, I did not see much to make me want this.
The graphic display is great if you want that, but I like the 4 readouts with the SGII, and the SGII only cost about $150 if you get it from Way Motor Works (shameless plug).

Just my $.02

^That is a good point...I just liked how it was a gauge instead of a "box"...but either are worth looking into...IMO

Just so everyone knows, while this may have Wideband AF capacity built in, it WILL NOT work for an R53 MINI. Our cars only have a narrow band AF sensor built in, so OBD2 doesn't provide any Wideband data.

Other than that it looks like an interesting device. Similar to the ScanGaugeII in functionality, with real gauges, and in a form factor that makes more sense for those that don't want little boxes stuck all over their car.

No modern car (that I know of) has wideband data; to get real wideband information on ANY vehicle requires a purpose-built wideband sensor and control circuitry. Some recent cars have five-volt semi-wideband sensors, but they're usually not good beyond about 11.5:1 in the rich direction, or 15.5:1 in the lean direction. A stand-alone wideband will be able to read between 10.0:1 and 17:1 or so.

I was just saying because it seemed that some people were making a comparison to a wideband AF (Looks like it has some of that capability). It doesn't work like that on an R53, though I think the R56 does have some semi-wideband capability as you said.

so will this not read A/F ratios correctly since it is not a wideband? or will it still give an accurate reading??

On the R53 this will not display proper AF's no. You need to buy a separate wideband AF gauge for that. Our cars have no onboard capability for wideband AF.

I'm not quite understanding you? The kit comes with a, new wideband sensor, a new sensor module that connects the AFR sensor to the new gauge. So why won't it work, or read wideband?

Where does it say that?

This is all I saw on the site

DM-200 OBDII/CAN
Intelligent Multi-Functional Display (iMFD)
Universal 2 3/8" (60mm) OLED Color Display for all Sensor Modules

Winner of 20 SEMA Awards for Best New Product
Displays up to 50+ sensors
Plug and play to 1996+ vehicles and up
Compatible with all obd2 protocols
Installs in seconds
iMFD sensor modules compatible
Fully customizable
Interfaces with your PC

Looks like a generic OBDII interface... I saw no mentioning of a wideband.

Edit:
Further research shows that they do OFFER a wideband that will integrate, but it's an additional $149.00. The gauge that comes is just OBDII. It DOES NOT include wideband AF capabilities.

Includes:
DM-200 OBDII Module
HDD-200 60mm Universal OLED Display
6ft 4 button remote
4ft power wire with 2.1mm connector
1ft Serial Cable
6ft USB Cable
CD includes User Guide, DM-100/200 Utility, USB Device Driver
Comprehensice User Guide

Universal 2 1/16" (52mm) Gauge and Air/Fuel Sensor Module

 • Digital Accuracy

*shrug*

I was just commenting on the link the OP posted. They touted wideband AF functionality out of the box and I was making it clear that OBDII doesn't allow for wideband capability.

Looks like an interesting unit, nice if you want to have a few gauges at once on the same gauge cup. I'm fine with my multiple $30 gauges though instead of one big $600 one, .

OMGosh you shruged Actually you can get just the 52 mm. gauge for $209. Not to bad for what it does And the AFR combo is $399. What I thought was really cool is the way the gauge will show a line type graph, that will be nice for watching AFR's.
