I have a remote oil filter mount on my MGB because the Webers hang right over the original oil filter base. (Derrington Cross Flow head. Carbs are now on the passenger side of the engine)

A remote mounting mod for a Mini I think would be a natural. It's a PITA to remove the filter element, compared to a simple spin on/off canister filter.

 

Haven't seen a remote mount... but heard someone talking about a spin-on filter adapter...
