Drivetrain alta turbo inlet hose, m7 vortex scoop and upper grill
We highly recomend you to seal IE. paint the scoop as the gel-coat does not take kindly to UV exposure.
If you feel comfortable with trimming the metal lip, please do, as it will allow some extra needed airflow to your intake.
I will have images, but I like to have all the new stuff on the car to show it of
and we are talking about five new products... I'm very excited.

you know with those five new products.. may i take a guess that one of them is a CF AGS-R?
Nammerz, looks good
How close is the finish and color of the scoop to the flat black of the fender flares? I'm thinking of getting one and leaving it as is to match my fender flares.
Peter (M7), do we need to finish and thus seal the scoop or can we leave it as is with no future probs?

yeah if i knew that a CF version was coming out, i would have bought that instead. but eh whatever...
btw, how much does matte black spray paint cost?
-nam
But you can use a cutt-off wheel on a dremel tool.

Mine's AB/AB so I thought the matte black of the fenders would be the way to go with the scoop.
As much as we are all salivating on the sneak peek at the new CF Scoop from M7 (Thanks Peter!)
.
Has anyone thought anymore about the question that NAMMERZ raised about the length of the Alta tubes?
Is this typical or not? I would like to know as this is probably one of the next things I plan on doing to my MCS.

for astro and everyone who are curious,
so here are the comparisons of the unpainted scoop to the fender:

this is under direct sunlight. i took the picture at around 1415 for any of you who cares to know what time i took it at.

another picture at a different angle. you can easily see the difference in texture.

this picture was taken away from the sunlight with the scoop upside down. perhaps maybe if you live in a "gloomy" and "shady" area, you would not need to paint the scoop.
but...........

i bought this since it can withstand up to 1200 degrees. not sure if thats really true but hey why not give it a try for 4 bucks. lol

this is gonna have a totally different color to the fenders. for those who are curious the paint is flat black i believe? or thats what the tag at OSH said to be but to me its like a dark grey.

matches a bit closer to fenders but its still different. to me its about 3 to 4 shades off.

direct sunlight at 1430. its really off.
i thought i should take a picture of this because it seems important when it comes to matching colors.

it doesnt match. so what i plan on doing is finding a gloss black and painting it again to see if it matches the stripes.

there are only three intakes right now in the market that im interested in:
alta- i like the alta because it has dyno charts
m7 ags- this is a very intesting piece right here that caught my eye. if you think about it... our oem intake is sorta like this because if you take off the cover, the ags and our oem intake is similar in looks.
m7 ags r- i like the idea of the ram intake, this is the reason why i went for the scoop. if there are any data of some sort that shows this is better, id buy it.
at this moment, there are only three mods left that i want to put left into the car in terms of performance unless a company out there puts something insane out there lol.
they are the borla exaust (i cant tell any audible difference between the race and touring unless someone can prove me otherwise), tsw springs (still in development as i was told) and the intake. id like to buy the intake first, i got the cash i just need some sort of reason to why i should get one over the other.

well the race is more of a roar and thge other is a growl.. if that makes any sense.. thats what i get from youtube and such. I'm jealous of my friends evo x.... his drop in replacement gets 27whp =[. i like the alta also.. but theres something about the stock air box that i just cant let go of just yet....

pic of evo and my mini if interested haha

You'll get more performance out of an intake like Alta's CAI, M7's stuff, or DDMWorks.

so after the gloss black dried out. im entirely convinced that i want to put it in gloss black. it looks sooooooo sweet!!!

sorry for the horrible pictures, im kinda in a hurry to get to work. the paint job i did was horrible btw. i just did a quick spray on it. i dont really know how to spray paint other than keeping the nozzle 10 inches away from what you want to spray at and doing light coats.
i really like the gloss black because it matches the stripes. so now what i plan on doing is bringing the scoop to a local body shop to get it painted for real. enjoy the pics and thanks for everyone who actually took the time to read this entire thread.

Great post, answered a boat load of questions I had. In particular the last series of shots cleared up why there isn't any decent "down the throat" shots out there. The intake is deep enough that light gets trapped inside. It definitely looks good in gloss black.
Thanks!
Thanks!

ok so im getting my scoop ready to be painted at the shop and i forgot to take a pic showing the inside of the scoop AFTER the cutting. for anyones interest, i tried to dremel using m7's advice but that took way too long. it was like 1 cm cut after 2 or 3 minutes using a dremel, so i figured what the hey, i might as well use that drill bit they supplied. it is a very very tacky job, so please dont go crazy on me
ok, pics.

i really like how i can nearly put my hand inside where before the cutting, my fingers was the only thing able to fit. i also like how you can see the ALTA tubes. it gives it a little "hmmm what do you have underneath your hood" deal.

so heres my "improvised-cutting" job
my brother asked me, "why is there a huge hole in your hood?" so i couldnt tell if it was a compliment on my job or not

ill take pics when the entire job is finished.

Hey folks! Sorry I was on vacation (I might even post it on a different thread it was SO kool!)
Any hoo, the drill bit it supplied by M7 to aid in opening the holes to mount the scoop. I agree overkill, but they sent it to us, so we send it to you. Thanks Peter.
On the inlet hose, nothing looks out of place there, sometime the trim can be slightly off and we attempt to minimize it in every case we can. There is no chance of any leaks.
If I can help in any other way, PLEASE let me know!

I'd seal up the rough edges on your cuts nammerz... I installed sidemarkers in my old accord and was just too lazy to seal up the bare metal... Rust > my fenders.
Get a nice metal file, file away till it's nice and smooth, tape off, and seal that naked metal. Rust is not fun. Cancer for your car.
