Alta BOV installation

hi everyone,

just wondering if anyone has installed an Alta BOV in MCS.
I just bought one and recieved it yesterday.

However, i looked at the instructions and it confused me.
I do not get the part of "drilling a hole" on the plastic panel.

i think it is very risky to drill any holes on our engine part since we may break the engine and that would not be covered by the waranty.

Alta website does not says anything regarding the drilling hole in the description.

I do not think i can have the BOV refund too...

Is that any other ways of installing the Alta BOV instead of drilling a hole?

I ordered the BOV eventhough i knew it would not help our engine much...

Thanks everyone.

you can put it in the cold side boost tube in place of the sound generator.

you need an adapter for the MAP sensor in the intake manifold so you can get a vacuum source without drilling.

BTW I have one for sale let me know, from ATP.......

It sounds like an atmospheric BOV

Ouch? What do you mean? The OEM valve and the ALTA sound similar. So if you don't like the sound, I understand. But if you were calling out ALTA, I was just curious why.

Thanks for the post!

Hey sorry for the confusion. When the instructions were written we didn't have the other boost / vaccum adapter option. We do now. Should be on the site soon, and we may offer it with the valve for a combined reduced price. IF you want one of the adapters let me know and I will help you out. Makes it EZ to connect the BOV and gauges as well.

Thanks again!

hihi adam,

Yupyup, i would need an adapter definitely. How can i get it?

DId i buy my alta bov in a higher price? and without the combination~>.<""

And can you teach me how to install the BOV after i got the adapter?

It is never a good way to drill

I also ordered a filter cleaning kit and just knew that it couldnt be delievered.

I was kinda disappointed cuz no one contact me.

Is there any other ways to clean the CAI without having the foam filter cleaning kit?

Thank you adam and everyone.

Wasn't calling out ALTA, no worries. Just personal preference on the sound . It's part of the reason I went back to the stock intake.

Maybe I got tired of reading... but why would anyone put a BOV on their car (R56 S) when you can simply spend a few more $$, put a CAI on your car which equals more HP AND... AND unleashes a BOV sound...? Am I missing something...
Oh and ADAM is the ECUs trouble free now, the bugs worked out.... I want one.

The R56 does not use a blowoff valve as stock. When you lift your foot off the throttle, to slow or to shift, the turbo is still spinning, and the intake path is therefore still under pressure, because the throttle is closed. The diverter simply releases the pressure by opening a port, this changes the volume of the area, thus reducing the pressure. However it does not allow the pressure to escape, so as a side effect the turbo essentially must stall. A BOV, or blow off valve, will dump the pressure to atmosphere. BOV prevent excess stress on the turbo, and allows it to continue happily spinning, so when you open the throttle backup, less time for turbo to spin backup. A more important point as you mod more, somewhat debatable as stock.
