Drivetrain Nology HotWires
I know some posting in the past, but can anybody give me any comments after installation and driving?
Looks some people said it would get the engine response improved.
Thanks for the precious and frank comments in advance.

The lack of response is mostly because not many people think that Nology wires gives much performance increase for the relatively high cost of it. Sure it looks good with many colors to choose from but generally other upgrades like an good cold air intake would make more sense.
Now if you like the look of colored wires in your engine bay then that is a different story. I talked to RandyBMC about Nology and he liked it and said that he had one customer that used it in an MCS and felt it helped to smooth out the engine response a bit. Don't expect more than about a 1-2 HP gain if that much at all.
If you have done everything else to upgrade then you can consider Nology unless the colors appeal to you- then it is basically engine dress up.
If you have the MC then magnecor might be a better choice and cheaper too. Some people like that combination- adds a little HP maybe 2. Less colors to choose from.
Doesn't seem to do much for the MCS.
Pilo was coming out with a new performance ignition upgrade- stay tuned or PM him.

Well. thank you so much for your comment, Minihune.
As you said, it looks like there's no significant result in terms of HP.
At the same time, isn't it great to improve the engine response?
I'll also check the Pilo site closely.
I really appreciate your input !

Hi luither
I have a set of them, and there nice dont get me wrong. But if your looking for a HP increase dont go For them. i think if you want some thing that might last a while and maybe clean up the upper RPM range, there worth it.

When I first started with my MINI the Nology wires were one of the first things I looked at. If you read the advertisements and hype it sounds really good and relatively cheap plus it looks custom- with all those colors.
However when you ask around the bottom line is that the effect on performance is a difficult one to fully access. So HP gains are low. Maybe it does a little to smooth out engine responsiveness but it is a slight thing. Do a double blind test where all else is kept a constant like 10 stock MCS cars and half are fully stock and the others are Nology equipt. Then have the people drive the cars each for a full day and then register whether they think the car they have is stock or not. Bet the results will show that it is not easy to tell what is in which car. Now it you did timing on the track or dyno, maybe there could be a slight difference but I don't think it would be so high as to worry about it.
I don't think that Nology wires are harmful and I do think they are attractive. So in my book they do qualify for functional art with low performance enhancement.
Someday I may buy a set but only after pilo makes his performance ignition set available and I can check it out for myself.

Thank you, JAMIE and Minihune.
Your comments are very interesting and educational for me.
I am really looking for something to make my engine response smooth up to high rev.
In such a sense, Nology Hotwire could be one of the option...
Plus, good looking when I open the engine hood.
You have any other suggestions to improve engine response ?
Happy motoring !

I noticed the idle was a bit smother and the response was a bit better, cant say
its a HP gain, but I do feel the car seems to sound cleaner. not sure if that helps
Randy has some threads on the these wires, do s search, its more
like seat-of-the-pants stuff. I like the look also.

I found an article very educational for me to think about ignition wires as an important engine management system.
Here is the one from Magnecor site called truth.
Truth about Ignition Wire Conductors
Even though this could sound like defense, it's a good meterial for us to think about what is the ignition.
For those who has not visited yet, it would be worth to read.
