It depends on what you're looking for. Do a search, there should be several topics on exhausts. I have a Miltek and love it. The tone is deeper than stock at idle and volume is not obtrusive when just putting around or cruising. It opens up nicely when pushed and is not ricey at all. I haven't personally seen a car with the Alta so I can't comment on that system.

For comparisons (including exhaust note clips), see this thread:
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=23789

I personally like the ALTA. And now that they've come out with the Stealth system, it's a no-brainer for me.

edit: Hmm. Appears those links in the thread are broken. Try youtube for exhaust notes.

I run a Milltek on both my MINI's. Sold a few Alta's but mostly Millteks.

I've got Millteks in stock too, no drop shipping here.

I guess I should have told you why I like the ALTA.

It's lighter than most other exhaust systems, with its single-sided design (when compared to the double-sided design that most other systems offer; which is just like the stock system). More is not always better.

I am a person who has run Milltek on 2 different Mini's.They are pretty well made, have "conservative",appropriately "British" exhaust note.BUT....I too am being coaxed and lured to the Alta. The new black one seems pretty hot.Plus....I am craving even louder, lighter system.
It's as subjective as a favorite food.Good luck!

I have the Alta on a catless megan header and I shoot flames on redline shifts and rev-matched downshifts.

Borla is also a great choice, and in the same price range.

I had the Milltek on my 02MCS ( now have JCW) as far as I know they both generate pretty much the same power. I've never heard the Alta but the Milltek was the quietest of the aftermarket exhausts but definitely louder than stock, as others have mentioned it gives a great tone and changes under different loads. I certainly wouldn't want anything any louder but I'm an old dude. If you want lighter and louder then the Alta is the way to go.

I have the new Alta "stealth black" system with the new oval tip and really like it. It is not quite as loud as the Invidia I replaced it with, but has a deeper tone. I also run the Alta header, so it can get a bit loud at WOT.

For me Miltek won b/c it has a lifetime warranty. That and I live 20 min from the US importer so I didn't have to pay shipping.

Go for the one-ball first. Cheapest by far and you may be surprised at the sound and performance. Hard to tell the difference between my one-ball and a friends Borla street.

I have the Alta cat-back and also use the Alta header. Love the sound. Just right IMHO . I just drove a buddies car, he has a Borla race cat-back and a Comptech 4-2-1 header. Lets just say . It's cool and all, but alittle too loud for my daily driving car, sorry Joe if you read this . He loves it BTW, but hes only in his twenties .
