Don't stop at an LS2, save up for an LS9!

I would love to see a RWD mini. If the car was expendable and i had gratuitous amounts of money to play with i might have one. But, as of yet i have only ever heard of the idea being thrown around. Biggest problem is finding a nice enough engine that you can slam into the tiny engine bay. Unless you built a tubular chassis car and made the mini a mid engine rear wheel drive using the existing drive line.

Dear Tooth-Fairy:
Please put an Eaton TVS R660 under my pillow for me to play with and put on my MINI.

Thanks,
Ryan

the only real v8 i could think of actually fitting would be that v8 that the guy from dpcars.net used in his prototype and atom. Of course then you'd have to deal with tranny and etc.

Once the Traveler comes out with it's AWD setup you can bet that I'll be hounding the parts counter for part numbers on that rear diff and tranny setup.

That race car was for sale a bit ago..

about $35k I think....

I heard someone else is thinking of doing it.

FWIW, Huffiker (I know the spelling is wrong) did some rear drive classic mini race cars... Loophole in some rule book. If you go to Infineon there's one of them in the shop. Competitive layout.

Not so...

the rules of the race series it was built for allow you to put any engine from the same manufacturer into the chassis. The stock engine was from BMW, so any BMW could be put into the chassis. Sure it's modded all to h**l, but it's still a Mini. How much original DNA still is there I'm not sure, but it was and is a MINI.

How about a 2.4L SRT-4 engine mated to a getrag 6speed AWD from an audi TT. Same basic block trans as a mini.

Why not just use the Audi 2.0T motor? Much better motor than the 2.4L motor from dodge.

Jan already stuffed a 2.0L in. What's an extra .04L?

rwd mini with short wheel base would be a heavy oversteer especially with all that added weight in the front. Just like my built up Clio in GT3, tail end always coming around when you get on the juice. Also would be a bit like the W12 mid-engine GTI 650 , cant steer itself out of a wet paper bag...

I have contimplated the Haldex unit from the TT and would jump at the opertunity to try one out. Just need to keep surfing the salvage auctions....I will find one...o yes...hehe

In your opinion. The 2.4 SRT motor is easier to find and capable of 500+hp easily.
