Sorry for the lack of clarity, I *meant* to inquire what's the estimated total (wallet) damage to get a stock S Mini (or Works package Mini) modded/tuned similar to "RMW/MiniCorsa" (does this Mini have the "Stroker" engine I keep reading about on here?).

Best bet is to just call Jan to get a ballpark figure. It's hard for him or anyone to just spit out a dollar amount that will give you x amount of pow-wuh.

Danny's car is a 1.6. The only "Stroker" in existance as of right this minute is on Jan's car, that's the first dyno with the overlayed results (Higher numbers being Jan's 2.0 Stroker, and lower being Danny's 1.6). For pricing on the stroker give Jan a call.

RMW Exhaust was just changed, so I'm not sure on the price. His old version was ~$2100 I believe
RMW Big Valve Head is ~$2200 as listed on Helix's website, + gaskets, studs, etc if you want/need that stuff
An Intake is ~$200
A Pulley is ~$150
Pistons are ~$700 IIRC?
Tune depends on how long it takes. I think Jan charges $350 + dyno time.
With all this power you'll likely want a new clutch. Clutch with Flywheel will run about $850-900
An LSD wouldn't be a bad idea if you don't have one. Stock one taken off is about 400, OBX is about the same, Quaife is ~$1100.

Figure $8k in parts?

Most shops will charge between $500 and $800 to install a head, exhaust is probably $250 to install, intake $75, pulley $150, Pistons I have no idea, you'd wanna do those when the head comes apart. Tune I figured the $150 in dyno time into the cost of parts, clutch is usually about $1k in labor, LSD is basically free if they have the transmission open for the clutch.

Labor: $2275 (Not including Pistons)

So to reach Danny's level of power you're looking at ROUGHLY 10k in parts and labor. Keep in mind he also has an experimental Water to Air Intercooler that is probably going to end up being close to $2500 installed.

Sooo... it'll be expensive!

Jan,

What were your findings on stroking a 1.6L. Was this even possible with meaningful benefits which resulted in your decision to utilize or bore out a 2.0?

OK, so:
1. By exhaust I'm guessing for that price that also includes the header? $2100.
2. The head is a must = $2200.
3. RMW cam? You didn't include that but I'm sure it's a must. $???
4. LW Flywheel/clutch/Quaife LSD = $2100 approx.
5. Pistons = $??? - are these really a must?
6. Labor = $1500.?

I'm just trying to figure a reasonable budget for all this.

Thanks

1) Yes that includes the header
2) Yes
3) No but I would
4) Not a must but I would recommend it
5) No

I've had a 5.0 Mustang, SVO Mustang, E30 M3 and Z28 Camaro (93) and Jan's 2.0 GP was by far the quickest. My son (34) and I took it for a spin a few months ago and we both agree on this.

Jan, you need to post some 1/4 mile times and speeds because these subject superlatives don't convey the unpossible awsomness of the beast.

1) Yes the exhaust is a full race header with a cat and a catback.

2) The head is definitely a must

3) I didn't include the RMW cam because Danny isn't running one. He has a Schrik Cam but it's unlikely that accounts for more than 4-5 HP (And probably made him lose torque). Cost on the RMW "Torque" Cam is IIRC is around $500, but you'll have to check with Jan on that, it's not technically "released" yet.

4) A full flywheel and Stage 3 clutchkit from clutchmasters is about $850-900. The Quaife is $1100 or so, so your price is pretty close, yes. If you don't mind cheaping it, OBX makes a copy of the Quaife that people have reported success with for around $400 IIRC.

5) Pistons aren't a must, but if your engine blows you'll be sorry you didn't spend the $700 + labor to upgrade them . A rebuilt engine will be close to $3,500.

6) Labor will depend on your mechanic. You'll be looking at about $650 for the head install, $1,000 for the clutch/LSD, and probably $450-500 for pistons.

In the next few months there will be more information on the 2.0, stay tuned .

I understand the 2.0 is going to be a crate motor with all the goodies inside already.
Then, all that's needed is an engine swap which may be less money than all the installations of those things above.
Plus tranny upgrades.

Looking forward to the price of the 2.0
