Premature clutch wear pre 06 5/6 speed manual

I have been asked to throw this question out there...I have an aquaintance who has replaced a clutch every 10,000 miles. She has driven only manual transmissions, so this one is not knew to her.

Thoughts? I honestly do not know what part is wearing out?

If you're friend is wearing a clucth out that quickly then they must be doing something wrong. Do they use the clutch to keep themselves from rolling backwards on hills?

my clutch or I guess more specifically my flywheel died at 46k on my 06 (oct 05 build) mcs. The clutch still had a bit of meat on it but the flywheel and throwout bearing were toast.

The clutch's in these cars really really sux... no secret there. I'm not trying to be a jerk michael but it sounds like your friend may have a lingering habit that is pronouncing the crappy oem clutch's weaknesses.

1 clutch i could understand ( possible manufacturer defect ? ) but going on a couple now means operator error.

I do not want to blame your friend, but they seem correct...

Also, know that the throw out bearings are POS in these cars. I mean that little $12.00 piece cost me a $1,200+ bill last summer(the dealer "luckily" split the bill 50/50...was $2,400+)

Possibly they are resting their foot on the clutch pedal while driving?
