Unplugged temp sensor and now odometer reads -40 ??

I finally just got done with the flat black lower grill and smooth chrome surround. However, I unplugged the temp sensor for the bumper instead of simply sliding the sensor out. I had to move my car for a sec and turned it on (I had forgotten about the missing temp sensor) and turned it off immediately as my odometer read -40* F lol. I plugged the sensor back in turned the car back on and moved it for a sec, but the tach still reads -40* F.

So, is there something I need to do to reset it or will it go back to normal on its own or what? Not sure if this affects driveability of the car at all? (I wouldn't think so but hey, maybe it's linked to something important)

Help please....

Try resetting the light by holding the little button on top of the stalk that controls the different readings. Put it on outside temp, than continue to hold the button for maybe 5 seconds. That's how I reset mine one time for the fun of it.

Hmm didn't think of that I'll try it now.

I have no check engine lights or anything of the sort so I figure there's no harm in driving the car...

The signal is dampened by the computer. So the tach will read that for a few minutes, it will adjust back to normal after a few minutes of the key on. It will do it a little quicker if you drive the car.

But if the connection on the sensor the the wiring fails it will go to the -40 and stay, also your A/C won't work. Recheck the connection and make sure you didn't pinch a wire when you had the car apart.

Thanks for the heads up. Turned the car back on and it now reads 36*F so I'm sure it'll go back to normal once I drive the car.

Impossible to pinch a wire cause all I took off was the bumper cover, bumper support and everything else stayed on the car.

Thanks for the help fellas!
