Filter upgrade question...

Just got my 05 r53. Looking at a few mods. Probably going with a Intake and replacing the air filter. Only problem is that when I replaced my air filter on my old Mercedes with a K&N, I believe it cased a Mass Air Flow Sensor to fail on me. Has anyone had any experience with this on a MCS? Thanks.

I really wish Mark would move the 2nd Gen forums to the very bottom of the page...clear away from the 1st Gen.

No issues with this on my R53 or my R56. Replacing with a CAI or just a foam panel filter worked fine.

Mods - can you move this post to the 1st gen forum?

There is no MAP sensor on the first gen Coopers.

And this is a problem only if you over oil the filter, which most do.

No issues with my R53's ALTA intake, (a foam filter). Been installed now 3.5 years!

MAF and Air filters

Most dealers have a knee jerk reaction- error code related to a MAF, aftermarket filter, therefore filter=cause of problem.

These filters don't need to be cleaned or reoiled often, but when they do a light spritz on the intake side is all you need.
