M7 16% Pulley - Opinions?

I'm ready to make the leap here for my first mod (I don't count the M7 STPs as a true mod), installing a pulley.

The M7 16% pulley looks intriguing, due to its design. Any owners here who could chime in?

I'd save $27 and go with the Alta V1. What intrigues you about the design of the M7?

You should give Helix a call. They can throw in a 15 or 17 size pulley. It's not to far from maryland.

The flange at the outer edges. Seems to be a nice feature to keep the belt aligned or to keep it from slipping off.

Which it does nicely The additional 1% is just a little bit more than a 15% of course but you can still go with the JCW belt if you desire.

If installed correctly with proper belt size, there's no way the belt will "walk off" the pulley. If you like it that much better, then go for it, but there's very little difference between most of the pulleys except size.

I'd take that as a pricing challenge.

Randy.....?

Give Steve a call here and see what you can work out .
http://customminishop.com/product/m7-spull.htm

Of course you can go with less ( 15 % ) for less $ but as they say,
" It's only a few pennies more to go first class " "

I'm going with the Alta V1 for these reasons:
1. Alta customer service is the best in the industry
2. Alta offer the pulley removal tools for free with the purchase
3. Price

My favorite part of the M7 16%, are the cooling grooves.
Quote from there website:
"The M7 Technology Pulley offers an active cooling system that pulls in cool air through the holes in the pulley shoulder and a thermal surface barrier that helps keep belt temperature down"

I've had mine for a while now with no complaints. It works wonderfully!

No sarcasm here.
I honestly don't know how well those little cooling grooves work, but I like the idea.
Either way, the pulley has worked out great for me thus far.

If you need a flange to keep the belt on, you've got issues a flange won't solve.
That said, it's pretty much a tossup - unless you can't decide between a 15 and a 17, then it's perfect.

Direct from M7. This is what they told me:

"All of the specs for the pulley have been re-done and although this run did not have the grooves, please know that the tolerances are tighter than ever. We are deciding if we will add the grooves back, the biggest issue is a technical manufacturing issue. Please feel confident to install this pulley."

All pulleys seems to be fine especielly from Alta, M7, etc. The mains decision will be what the price is and what reduction percantage you want..
