Twincharging A R56???

just came across this thread on an EVO forum. could this work for the MINI??

http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=317044

bassicaly you would ratain the stock setup and then just pipe to a rear mounted turbo. the boosted air form the rear turbo would then make its way upto the intercooler and join with the air from the front turbo. could it work???

Cheers

Chris.

Well, not to put as much doom on it, I have not heard of anyone going past the PSI that the Alta turbo upgrade generates. I also haven't heard of a failure from too much pressure, so you might have some headroom above 18-20 PSI. Alta would be the only company that could tune it right now and retain the mini ECU, that I know of.

I'd still find a source for R56 heads/blocks if you were gonna go down this path. I know the engine is not tuned within an inch of its life from the factory, but there are limits to everything.

wheren't fireballed racing building some monster powered R56 minis??

its not about BIG power its about combating the dreaded lag with a bigger turbo. just wondered what you guys thought of the physics/enginering behind it.

Its stupid. The supercharger is just used to overcome lag, and then its dead weight that the crank is spinning, and is heating up the air and not doing very much. The concept is a great idea, but if you size the turbo correctly things will be alright. Especially on a stock turbo R56, its absolutely useless.

im not on about a supercharger, im on about a turbo, well two actually.
