im in the proscess of buying an ABD intake fot my 02 MCS but it doesnt come with a heat shield. has anyone made a heat shield at home? any pictures? thanks
I'm fortunate enough to have a friend that lays carbon fiber. I fitted and cut a sheet metal template, and used it as a mold to lay the CF. I will post picture by Sunday for you.
I made a cardboard template of what I wanted and then cut a piece of a sheet metal to fit, screw mounts and all. Then I painted it with Eastwood's wrinkle finish in Black ( as most older British cars use ) then got some weatherstriping and cut to fit top. Mine is a K & N intake bought off EBAY for $50, did not have shield or mounting bolts. Used grommets for the bottom damper mount. Do not forget the jump wire assembly from rear battery. Needs bracket riveted to side to hold.
