I've got it! The throttle body is allowing air to rush back through retrograde and escape through the diverter valve. We just need to add resonators backwards in the exhaust path!

Rusting??

Okay, so I'm resurrecting this thread because I have a potential new problem. I am fairly new to exhaust systems and such, so I need your guys' opinions on whether or not I have an issue. It looks to me like I have rusting on my stainless steel TBE. Below are the pictures.

So my question is: is this normal (and can possibly just be cleaned off) or did they lie to me and this isn't really stainless steel? Note: the hangers in that picture ARE NOT stainless (the rear ones are, but the front ones shown are not because they didn't have any in stock). Thanks.

there are different grades of stainless steel i believe 303/304 has a higher chromium and also has nickel content and does not rust or is much much more resistant to rust.

most grade 409 will rust. so it depends on the grade stainless steel tubing they used, which can mean rust is "normal"

It also depends on how hot the metal gets

get it over abotu 900 F, and I think the nickle oxidizes out of the surface layer, then what's left rusts. You should see my OBX header! Looks like mild steel now.

I've had mine for a little over 6 months and looks as shiny as new. I have no clue as to what type of SS it is though.

here's a recent pic.
