Drivetrain Alta CAI - CEL
Alta CAI - CEL
Hi guys, I just got back from servicing my mini because of a CEL. I installed the alta CAI a few months ago and there have been no problems so far. But a few days ago I got a CEL and got my mini checked at the dealer. I already had the software update to fix the previous issues but they tried uploading the update again to see if it would fix the problem. The CEL is gone now but they were saying the intake is most likely the culprit. Is there something I should check with the intake that could be causing the CEL? Thanks.
Need the code # to be sure. Also, Konquest was my answer to your PM helpful, or not as now there is also this thread?
I always try to get back to people ASAP! Sorry if this wasn't in time!
"Thanks for the reply. The only concern with the intake is that the excess oil must be removed from the filter during the installation. Other than that any CEL's are derived from other sources. WE have never gotten a CEL related to the intake system on the car when properly installed.
There is one other thing to check, be sure the clamp that secures the MAF sensor to the inlet tube is TIGHT. If there is an air gap there it can cause a CEL.
Hope that helps!
Let me know how I can help further!
