Sweet! >21whp isn't too shabby either.

reread the post above yours - no one has posted results for a stock MINI with just the ECU.

But that chart shows:
1. stock MINI
2. "stage 3 mod" MINI

Not stock MINI vs stock MINI with ECU.

Unless I read that wrong:

"Here is a graph of our stock R56 laid over the Stage 3 ALTA R56. If someone buys our ALTA PnP ECU, and Hard Parts in a package, and claims not to have noticed the difference in the seat of the pants, then they must have a numb ***! These huge gains are had with roughly $3200 worth of parts."

Must have still had some leftover vodka in me from Saturday night when I wrote that...

What I meant is that I'm quite surprised and impressed that it's making 54ft/lbs on top of all the other mods. No other part comes even close to adding that much power to the bottom line.

Funny... I don't see a yellow line on there (at least not on the chart in this thread).

I DO see the GREEN line = All alta hard parts + stock ECU...

...a PURPLE line thats all the hard parts + Unichip tune...

...and a BLUE line which is all the hard parts and ALTA's custum Unichip tune.

Sounds a hair low, but not overly so. Shold be knocking on the 200 wheel horsepower door, according to Alta's charts (suggesting 198-199ish), but he's not that far off. As you mentioned, simple variations in the testing conditions could account for half of that.

Still, I'll be interested to see updated figures.

Thanks for the confirmation, Adam. That's the only place it matters IMO. All these dynos out there correcting to the crank are just bogus. There's sooooooo much potential for artifical inflation using crank numbers. Over-estimate driveline loss by 1% and you just added 3-4hp to your figure. Kills me when I read "I have a bone-stock R56S and it just put down 205hp on the dyno!!!". Uhhh, yeah, but your using a 22% correction for driveline loss... so that's about 160 at the wheels (ie: NORMAL). If it's not at the wheels, it don't mean nuthin'!
Apparently you're referring to somthing else out there?

He's referring to the yellow and green numbers below the graph, not the lines.

The plots can definitely be confusing.

Adam, not sure why I'm sticking my nose in here, but for me at least, making a custom chart outside whatever dyno software you are using would allow you to explain one particular point. At least for the noobs like me. You could always refer more technical questions to the dyno chart (which from a design perspective, seems to have way to much colour, no key, and hard to read text)

For example, MINI in an older R53 (I think) page, shows a JCW tuned vs non-tuned MCS here (choose "PERFORMANCE CURVE):

No harm done. I've seen enough of the plots now to be able to read them without a problem. I do see how they can be almost like another language for newbies though.
