While I don't have near 250hp, I do have some go fast mods on my car and I definitely drive the snot out of it - completely legal autocross - NEVER on the streets! I do so with excellent confidence and piece of mind that I'm planting the power with a Quaife! I would be leary of something that sounds too good to be true - but, to each his own.
