re: Important Dimsport ECU tuning news thread

Sorry this has taken a while to put in place...I needed to read through everything a couple of times to find my bearings on what action to take. Unfortunately I end up having to field the big issues like this....here goes...

After seeing the original "Important Dimsport ECU tuning news" thread, reading through it, and sleeping on it, I’ve decided that this thread needs to go away. Here is why I feel this way:

Some time ago I received a request that I allow Dimsport to come onto the site and post something very similar to what hornguys posted. I refused because I felt that it was for the purpose of an attack and it wouldn’t resolve any accusations that have been made relative to RMW. In other words it would continue being just another Internet argument with no means to find closure.

Now, a month later, hornguys posts what had been refused earlier. hornguys is merely acting as a mouthpiece for a vendor that is no longer on the site. For this he has been placed on moderated posting. Additional posts of this type will result in his removal from the site.

I know that there have been/are serious issues between Jan, Emil (Vitesse Pro), Dimsport, and Lucky Dog Garage and I’m not trying to minimize that. I’ve heard all kinds of accusations being leveled. That said, I have no way to prove or disprove anything and am not in a position to investigate and act as some type of judge and jury for things that may or may not have happened outside of NAM.

On NAM I feel different. It angers me to see people used for posting someone else’s agenda. In fact I feel sorry for the person being used in this way. It also angers me when skeletons that have nothing to do with the current marketplace are brought out for the purposes of damaging someone. I’m sure there are plenty of people on the site that have had issues in their life that have no bearing on how they act or present themselves now. This style of posting is no better than political attack campaigns...making one look better by jumping on someone else's back. Regardless there are always shades of gray but the original post was as blatant as they come in regards to intent and why the thread is being removed. The subsequent post from hornguys only reinforces this action.

If there really are questions that need to be answered then start a fund to hire a neutral party investigative reporter and have them dig into everything and share their results. In the meantime the members of the site still get to choose where they spend their money. Its up to the vendors to convince them they can deliver, give them value for their money, and deliver great service.

Mark

PS - I'm planning to leave this thread open for comment as long as it remains civil and respectful.

Thank you Mark .

With all do respect Hornguys first post should have gotten him on moderated posting.

His second post attacking Jan on a personal note should get him banned.....

This is your party but I had to say my piece.

Mark,

I commend you for 2 different reasons, 1. I agree 100% on the fact of this post being similar to a Political attack campaign and needed to go, its a dark day for NAM. 2. I was on page 7 when you deleted the post, and saw it had 38 pages, of which I didnt want to read, but similar to a horror movie you can't stop watching....

I have seen posters getting banned for stuff much more minor than Hornguys' character assasination.

I did it this way because I wanted to try to set an expectation first...to give him a chance. It also establishes the trip wire. If he does anything like this again it will be no surprise to anyone what happens.

Actually that's not true. I've always tried to offer multiple chances to people. Regardless since the big site feedback thread I've tried very hard to allow some additional leash because the community has raised its level of self-policing. Since that this is the first strike or warning that I've issued and I know of only one other warning that was given.

The only people that are banned immediately are spammers and that is only because you can't tar and feather them online

You are right Mark,
Vendors have products/services to sell/provide. Although "Peer pressure" plays into what is a hot and what is not I for one spend a lot of time researching products/services, Talking to them via PM/Email and in some cases in person.
Then when I'm satisfied with "X" vendor or "Y" service I buy it............

As before, gladiator helmets are cool and should come back into fashion.

First of all I would like to thank everyone who called/emailed me regarding this issue and the outpouring of support from the Mini community. I must say I am floored by the hundreds of emails and phone calls. I have been answering them as fast as I can so please forgive me if takes a day or so to get back to all of you.

You all really made my day

I will continue to do what I set out to do and that is provide great products and great pricing with outstanding service. I am always open to suggestions on how to be the best I can be.

thanks again for your support

Clearly, you should send each member a set of Cross coilovers*, to thank them for their support. Not me...I don't need them Everybody else would appreciate the sentiment...it is the holidays
