Drivetrain Borla Exhaust for MCS ?
I heard all the sound files and seen all the pictures but I'm still not convinced that this is the exhaust for me.
I'm looking for something louder and throatier then the factory exhaust, but not sooo loud you going to here me coming a block away. My wife drives my MINI a lot and I know she not going want attract a lot of attention to her. Cabin sound is very important (not to loud).
For those who have the Borla how much louder is the Borla compared to stock?
Any suggestions are welcome….

>>It sounds like you need to find someone in your area that has the Borla installed and get a ride.

Exhausts are very subjective on sound. What sounds loud to some are not bad at all to others. Listening to options in person is always the best way to go and driving in the car even better.videos don't always give you an accurate measure of sound.
I have listened in person to the stock MCS, Borla regular, and Magnaflow. I have a quicksilver on my MCS for the last 1000 miles. All are good exhausts. The other ones that people have tried and liked include the NRP and the scorpion which along with the Quicksilver are louder than the Borla.
In loudness the Borla is slightly louder than stock. The Magnaflow and Borla Sport are the loudest.
The others including the JCW kit exhaust are somewhere in between.
The Borla doesn't make that much HP compared to other exhausts, about 6 HP is the estimate. Results vary depending on what other mods you might have. Borla Sport makes more HP-not sure how much more, is much louder.
Quicksilver is very light at 21 pounds but costs $799 retail, a little louder than Borla regular, get about 10HP more and to me looks great in the large single oval exhaust tip- it is billed by it's maker as the "gentleman's exhaust". My wife has not complained at all and she doesn't like noise.
Scorpion looks good, is discounted right now-check other threads- less than $500. Not that loud. Check MCSHP.org for added HP rating. NRP is simple and works OK for more HP and not as loud as Magnaflow. By the way I don't think Magnaflow is that loud at all, but it might drone. I don't get droning that I know of with my Quicksilver. Also I noticed that depending on how I use the throttle I can tone down the noise of my exhaust quite a bit- like I can go into semi stealth mode- not like stock though but not very noisy at all- I use this mode if my wife is in the car or nearby.
