BLACK HEAD LIGHT RINGS

Whats up. I'm really interested in the de-chromed looked and want to de-chrome my headlight rings. What is the best way too do this?

I pulled the headlights eased off the rings few coats fo spray paint and volia!

But I do have to periodaclly touch them up ar a result of rock chips, so there might still yet be a better option out there.

rough them up, some self etching primer and some satin black. vinyl wrap would hold up better though

I bought some satin black vinyl for $20 and just laid it down on the rings and worked out the bubbles. I also had enough to do my gas cap, door handles, and other random bits of chrome around my car.

Hey Motor On, I am liking the center lower grill lights. What kind.
Mounting difficulties? Could we have a side pic to see how far they stick
out? Holes in the grill?

Thanks

Oops i was taken by Motor On's MINI.

Here are mine, Remove the headlight (3 bolts) and gently remove the HL rings. I sanded them down with 250 grit Sandpaper and then 440 grit. After that 4 coats of spray paint.

The photo isnt working, just click on my link below.

I've heard nothing but good things about Lagston at vinyl styles. I am going to order the black gas cap, tail light rings, and if he has them, door handles. A friend did my headlight rings, which seemed pretty easy.

I got mine at a sign shop. What I ordered was a satin black vinyl (pretty thin) and the manufacturer was 3M.

Not for long But I would rather wait for temps to pass freezing again before I go pulling the bumper again.

To slow down the chipping of painted headlight rings, and other post production painted parts, apply at least 3 coats of clearcoat letting each coat "tack-up" before spraying the next coat.

go to your local sign shop. Get "premium" vinyl. It lasts longer.
