Hmm... difficult to say... I'll be installing an aero kit in a couple of months so I'll try to pay attention to it.

One difference between the Vette and the MINI for the STS set-up would be turbo-size and therefore piping size - both much smaller for the MINI. Not that I think it would be a good idea... the whole STS concept strikes me as something very "application specific" regarding it's effectiveness... However, I don't think there's any way of knowing unless someone plays guinea pig and tries it...

i have found that 2.25inch piping can support over 600bhp though! that kinda suppreised me! also makes you think about all those people trying to run massive intake pipes, is it really needed???

as for the exhaust thing, if you stick with the stock manifold, or a shorty style header the will be much less heat lost. also the total volume of the system will be much reduced.

thanks Chris.
I have NEVER said this.....you are confusing Randy from M7 said it couldn't be done.... I think it can

If I recall correctly, the carbon fiber license plate holder was getting in the way so the turbo project was abandoned.

I never say never, but there REAAALLY isn't much room. I eman... the front fenders are plastc.. and well you know when you upen the bonnet, THERE THEY ARE! so it's not like you can "run it up the wheel well" granted I have run some nutty piping.

I spent quite some time staring under the mini to do a rear mounted turbo, and I'll tell ya... FOR ME it was not gunnah happen.

but I believe you can do anything if you really want... I know how I COULD do it. but it's not worth it

I can agree with that... the SMIC piping in my TDI is pretty convoluted and a Mk IV engine bay has loads more room than a MINI's. VW even pinched it a smidge to ensure clearance at full wheel lock as the lower turbo-cooler pipe is somewhat exposed to the fender well area.

Anyone see the GTT Turbo? Replaces the supercharger entirely and promises some pretty lofty numbers...

the only issue I have with GTT is the HP #s per $ dont add up. What you spend and what you get, well, there's more coming out of M45 cars. For way less. Doing a turbo is very easy in the R53. It's a speed density car. So as long as you know what you are doing it's basically a bolt on. If you run the same boost with a turbo. As with a 15% pulley you are garunteed to make almost double the HP. Let alone if you get a head, pistons, etc and turn it up! LOL

Other than that GTT like many other MINI vendors does a fine job. makes nice looking stuff. For me I just feel if you are gunnah spend X amount don't you want the MOST for your $?

That's my opinion and some people just like to go with thier brand. I understand and respect that.

Will there be an RMW turbo kit anytime soon??

With the addition of the RMW head it could be one of the best $ to hp setups

300whp is the plan for s/c

it will be much easier to put down on the track than a turbo car

the ball is set in motion.... now its just a matter of time to fruition
