Dinan Intake; Intake Filters

Didn't see a post concerning this after searching, so here goes...

http://www.dinancars.com/Mini.asp?Se...0&Model=91#180

Can anyone tell me, how exactly is this intake supposed to reach air in the cowl area? I'm not seeing a different partition as being part of the package.
Additionally, it's not variable like the JCW, is it?

Next, are the filters on all the aftermarket CAI's interchangeable (i.e. Can you stick an ALTA filter on a DDM intake, etc)? I would assume they are, considering the hose routing to the outside of the CAI is all of the same diameter.

I wouldnt know if "all" cai filters are interchangeable, but if i had to guess i would say no. The Dinan box is a totally different design then some others, as are Alta, JCW and the dozens of others on the market so some may interchange, others no. There are so many size filters.

You have to cut the partition, there should be a template included with the CAI.

All filters aren't interchangeable.

You cut the Baffle and the filter is not interchangable.

The filters are not interchangeable. The Dinan intake puts the filter at an angle, so it needs to be designed to accommodate this. It seems you can clean the stock Dinan filter (I had it but never tried), buy an angled alta that will fit, or buy and ITG that will fit as well. Actually, I have the ITG and will sell it to you!

If you are asking how air enters the box, it enters via the 1x6" or so slit hidden by the vertical tail on the left side in the picture. No air enters from the engine compartment, only cool air from outside.

I have an ITG filter on mine.

Get the stage three software if you plan on buying this cowl. I haven't dyno'ed mine, but butt-dyno says I have more low end torque and horsepower. The software also bumps you to a 7300 RPM redline.

Answered my own train of thought on the question I previously had in this post.

On an aside though, I went to DDM's site here: http://www.ddmworks.com/MiniStore/mini_filters.html...and looked at the filter model numbers...not seeing the 8275ST here: http://www.unifilter.com/online%20ca...universal.html. I'd really prefer one that doesn't stick so much in the cowl area. Just trying to get the specs for the 8275ST to see if they make a shorter version.
