JCW aftermarket parts and and anything That wont void a warranty
Hey, I have a 02 MCS , I bought a extended warranty from the dealer. So was wondering a couple things. can you get JCW parts like "intake exhaust, pulley? with out buying that whole kit? also what things can I put on my car that wont void the warranty also things that I can put on and take off that when the car needs to be fixed its a easy uninstall and wont show that the part was on?
you can get the exhaust and intake sepeatly.
Most dealers are somewhat "mod" friendly if you do not go to extremes. A bigger concern here in California will be to pass the dreaded smog test when required. That is why I opted for the JCW kit when I bought the car. The JCW intake will pass all reqirements and be fine with all dealers. There is no problem with the aftermarket cat back exhausts offered by many vendors.
Most dealers dont mind a 15% pully change.
Best advice, Talk to you service technician.

Warranties should only be affected to the extent that your mod might have caused the fault you're taking it in for.
So. most dealers don't mind a 15% pulley - true . . . unless you're trying to have the SC replaced under warranty. I'm willing to bet most, if not all, would not honor the warranty in that case (I know mine won't) -- and that's not easily installed/removed before taking it in.
As to what can easily be added or removed: the only ones I can speak of from experience are short shift kit, auto-up circuit and M7 USS (well, if someone knew what to look for, they could detect this -- but the USS shouldn't void any aspect of a warranty . . . so no need to remove or hide).
And I assume with most CAIs, it's easy to return to stock, but don't know this from experience . . . yet.

This is a pretty common concern, but like mentioned above, most aftermarket items will have little to no affect on the OEM warranty. But even better news, more than likely the extended warranty you bought (assuming it isn't a BMW backed warranty) is more than likely not going to take any exeception to ANY aftermarket parts. As an example I have a local client that bought a previously modded MINI used from a dealer local. Bought the ext. warranty and later on had a failure of the clutch assembly. Even though the car had ALTA Intake, 17% pulley, header, exhaust etc. the clutch was warranted under the ext. warranty.
Fuel for thought. Good luck and enjoy motoring no matter how you choose to do it!
