Exhausting dilemma!

Well... to cut to the chase... im getting bored of my playmini catback and is looking for a change... and from that, sparked the idea of a custom dual side exit exhaust... getting the cooper valence is easy... as my friend wants my S valence

question is though... this is for the guys who know what they are talking about... in making an exhaust... which is more important, straightest path, or bigger piping... currently all mini catbacks include 2 bends after the muffler to bring it back to the middle, isnt that just meaningless? so right now, the plan is to cut the playmini catback at the muffler, weld on something like a HKS hi-power muffler on there, and then using that as the end of the path instead of bringing it all to the center

versus a bigger diameter tubing on a mini specific exhaust... (in my case, the volt exhaust) that would snake its way around the battery box and back out the middle

well? bottom question is, which is more important in a pursuit for a bit more power and a bit louder? dual side exits and eliminating the 2 bends on each side, or getting bigger piping
