BTW how do you like Fresno, I'm looking at buying a business up there.

I was at 175, 173, 174. Oh well I was hoping that would explain why I was alittle low.

I like fresno a lot I've lived in the area almost my whole life and even when I moved away for college I lived in stockton so not much difference. Its really a good place to live but don't tell anybody. What kind of business are you looking at?

I'm glad this just came up. I'm planning on making my own air-water cooler next springs using a stock intercooler. The only things I need to really research are if people are using baffling inside to direct water flow and if people are keeping the fins on the intercooler or scraping them out.

Fisher,

Does yours use the stock intercooler for the core? It looks great!

That is a good Pic, but how do the pipes hook up? You have the top hose and the bottom hose on the intercooler. Where do these pipes go. I know you have a overflow tank/Top up tank I take it the pipe on the bottom of the Over flow tank goes to the top of the intercooler, the bottom pipe goes to the Pump? Or the Radiator? Someone help me out please

Oh, the one other thing I hadn't found an answer to was how to deal with air pressure buildup in the system. Possibly just a cap on the water reservoir that isn't air tight.

Sorry but I have spend to much time to do a good product so I can not tell all details about it. I can do it for you for a fair price if you need it, but that's all. It's to many secrets to tell all out.

Ones come from radiator and the other goes to the header tank.

Hi Jan, from what I see you seem to really know your stuff, I was about to purchase a chargecooler for my GP but if you are developing one I might wait to see what you come up with, keep us posted and let me know when you have any results or estimated price. I have some time I'm not going back to the track now till spring.

Nice #'s, do you have a dyno sheet for the same set up except with the stock ic for comparison? Have you done any tests yet on the track to see how it performs.

we have done numerous cars with the stock intercooler and they are in the 230+ range and this car has been on the track before the tune and ran hard all day long

it's best time pre tune was 1:31 at SOW
there was a video of the car playing with an Aerial Atom

Fischer- how much would you charge to build one of these? Would you require someone send you a stock intercooler core?

Talk about bringing an old thread back from the dead.....LOL....
Anyway, from what I have been hearing, water/air inter-coolers seem to do best for short bursts of power, mostly from a near stop after start-up.....the main problem is that the water tends to heat up in the system, and you need to get it cooled off for it be effective, as opposed to a limitless supply of air. It also creates a second cooling system to maintain, and requires a lot of plumbing to install...both difficult in the limited space under a R53 hood. (If you lived in a cooler area, it might be worth a shot, then again, you would not be thinking you needed it!!).
Many folks have installed a better inter-cooler diverter, and modified their rear washer (rear wiper delete+re-plumb of the sprayer) to spray water onto their inter-cooler. This seems to do great for most, and get rid of the lag associated with the start from stop....as long as you remember to spray!!
If you have lot of miles on your car, taking off you inter-cooler, and cleaning is a good idea,) there should be a DIY or two...very easy) as is installed a catch-can to get most of the vaporized oil and water that might be otherwise deposited on the inside of your inter-cooler. Catch-can do require regular maintenance, as if you forget to empty it can result in motor damage.

I have a w2a intercooler and I love it. I had it for 4 years and I haven,t had a problem with heat soak even when I track it. I did put a larger radiator than the one that came with it. Other than making sure the water level is full I dont have any maintenance.

Wow, I didn't even notice that in your sig. What kind of numbers are you putting down? Track and dyno.

I really dont know. The last couple of times I've had it tuned we street tune with on print out. I have a tune and dyno set up on 1/23 with RMW so I will find out then. The only problem is with the automatic is it shifts to early and for now no one seems to know to tune the tranny control. In third gear and higher it pulls real hard to red line.
