help with intercooler related prob
i got a set of silicone intercooler couplers from Alta,
and i was wondering i have a general idea of how to put them on being that i saw a guy at Tyrol Sport in ridgewood readjust mine afer it slipped and i lost power from the s/c,
but i was wondering if there are any detailed instructions to this process?

The process requires several beers and many, many swear words. Oh, and you will lose blood. Decide ahead of time who you're going to call to come bail you out when you give up.

Really, the procedure is the same as any time you pull the IC, but the sillycones are harder to work with. Pre-warming them seems to help. I had the best luck with getting the small end on first, then push the coupler on to the big end IC horn, and push it past the stop as far as you can. This will make setting the big end easier, then pull the coupler back into place.
A tip: while you have the IC off, think hard about doing any other mods that require it's removal (VGS, boost gauge...). You really don't want to have to pull it again. Trust me.

I agree with the you don't want to ever remove it again, I did mine when i put my alto IC diverter on, and the silicon tubes took me around an hour or so to get them on, then another 30 minutes to get everything seated and adjusted properly.
Best suggestive help i can give, is find out which one of the two tubes goes into place easiest and put that on last. warm them bad boys up, and go to town. refrain from using anything to pry with as you could do some major damage to something, specially if you slip.

this discussion makes me glad that i handed them over to my local favorite MINI tech for installation! he said it was a PIA. i went through two stock units before switching to the alta's. i used duct tape and super glue to get through 2 track session at my last DE. i didn't want to have to go through this again.
Hi all,
I have just installed the Works GP IC on my 2006 MCS. The thing is that after installing it the car feels a little bit worse than it used to go with the stock IC. The car has NO other modification...yet
.
Is there a possibility for this to happen???

yea definetely could be a leak,
i managed to get my couplers on and it was amazingly annoying.
I took everything off and then spent a lot of time squeezing the Alta couplers on and i was actually using an extremely hot hair dryer, that i stole from my sister, and then i turned on teh car and the clamps hadnt been working tight so i turned it over and it backfired it wasnt sealed at all, so i learned that i had the clamps on upside down so the threads were at the top
when you do this, make sure that you have the clamps up right, i was about to put the stock ones back on because i thought it was the couplers not being on straight but the stock ones didnt fit etiher so i found out what i did wrong, redid it (a lot shorter this time b/c the couplers got stretched out) and put it on and tightened the clamps as absolutely tight as possible,
and.......
it works great
it is a tedious process, but they do look nice and it works great
